I'd never, not ever, vote for the GOP, but Vance not seeing combat is a non-issue. Most people who serve don't. Hell, you could sign up with the intent of putting boots on the ground in a combat zone and end up spending 4 years at a recruiter station in Miami if that's where the military decides they need you.

Not gonna fault him, or anyone else for something that isn't often within ones control!

Vance never claimed to have seen combat. Big difference.

However, people in his line of work have been killed in the line of duty, in the very place where he served, doing what he did.
