There is a history in other countries (and to a very limited extent in the USA) of paying reparations over slavery.
However, it entailed payments to White slave owners for giving up their slaves.

I suppose I don't have a problem with reparations for black people. The issue is, who's supposed to get it? I mean, there are thousands of successful black people in America, like Oprah Winfrey, Michael Jordan, Neil deGrasse Tyson, Barack Obama just to name a few...
Hell, Oprah is worth over a billion dollars, does she get reparations?
Plus, during the height of the slavery epidemic, 3000 free black people owned 12,000 black slaves. I am not sure how we trace this to make sure descendants of former black slave owners don't receive anything. In addition to this, other races were held in bondage as well. So, who gets what?
So again, in theory, I have no issues with reperations, it's just hard to say who exactly is supposed to get it?
The plan is not to give to individuals. Instead, it'll be in the form of diminishing the generational wealth gap created by centuries of discrimination.
For instance, white Americans were helped with obtaining affordable houses which grew in value. The same could now be done for blacks.

America has made a lot of accomplishments. Jim Crow is in the distant past. But the Muslim version of Jim Crow in the Mideast is still alive and stronger than ever.
Israel is an apartheid state and has Jim Crow laws.
