Should Chic Fil-A be forced to be open on Sundays?

A bill in the State of New York's legislature would force the restaurant chain to be open on Sundays. I don't get the reason behind it other than the government attempt to intervene in how a business can operate. Call it an attack on a conservative business but why wouldn't you complain about Hobby Lobby as well? What's everyone's thoughts here?

reply

The irony is that stores were forced to be closed on Sundays years ago.

reply

More over-reaching by the establishment.

The government shouldn't try to dictate when a business opens or closes. That's abuse of power and probably illegal. I don't claim to know the law but it just doesn't seem legal.

Private companies can open or close whenever they want. At least on the America I grew up in they could.

reply

This is the big government interference these democrat fuckwits want. Utter control, as long as they 'think' it only affects the other side.

reply

Are they trying to make sure there are stores to rob 7 days a week?

That shoplifting lobby must be hella strong.

NYS removed a good deal of the seating in the rest stops, replacing it with more stores so the state could make more revenue.

I stopped by one about a year ago (and visited a Chick-Fil A, delicious by the way 😋😋) and was forced to sit NEXT TO THE LINE FOR CHICK-Fil A!! The rest stop had only about three indoor tables and 8 stools, with FIVE shops

It was ridiculous, people in line kept looking at my meal and turning to the menu while their asses were literally three feet away from my chicken sandwich. People had nowhere to sit, most trugged back to car, where they were sitting in for hours TO EAT THEIR MEAL!

How about a minimum seating requirements bill for rest stops? ...driver's want to spend a little time out of their ride...by focusing on revenue and removing seats, the state defeats the purpose of a rest stop.

reply

How many parking spaces would you guess there were? and how many miles apart are these rest stops?

I think there is only one rest stop on I-5 between the Mexican border and maybe 150 miles north. But this is not empty rural space likely hundreds of McDonalds etc within half a mile of every exit.

reply

Ample parking and the stops are strategically well placed apart,so no complaints on that, but NYS was thinking more about rent revenue then driver experience when they pulled out most of the seating and went with more stores.

reply

They should also be forced to provide abortions and sex changes!

Seriously, when I grew up in the 60s large stores and bars could NOT open on Sunday. Only restaurants and variety stores exempt.

reply

Hell, I remember when you couldn't purchase alcohol on Sunday, then it moved to noon, then it moved down to 9AM

reply

Is just restaurants in test stops on state highways. They are needed to serve travelers who do drive on Sundays. This is a pretty common condition to get contacts like this. If Any restaurant chain doesn't want to open on Sundays, that's their right, but they don't have a right to have a presence in facilities that are built to serve the public 7 days a week
