It's not her responsibility to stop shoplifters. The store will have a bigger issue if she was to be harmed in trying to do so.

The problem is that the stores are still responsible for the unknown shrink. (Lost merchandise) they are held accountable, and any time you bring up theft, the higher ups will down play it. This is why they take it a little personally when they can actually prevent it. They stopped this guy, but there are probably 10 others that got away with it.
The issue is that she hit him. If I were her boss I would personally leave it out of the report since it’s not on the store cameras. But if that video goes viral and it gets back to corporate, trust me she’s getting fired.
In the end, it's the company that suffers and customers that can't buy the needed items if it's not in stock or if the company closes down. One has to pick and choose what they want for society at the end of the day. But alas, this is the outcome of Capitalism where the majority live paycheck to paycheck or dirt poor. Hell, even the Superbowl coming up only the elites and the rich get to attend since tickets are in the thousands to tens of thousands.

I've regularly seen people run out of the grocery store with carts full; the cops won't do anything about it and you can see the frustration on workers' faces. Before the thread devolves in to this, it’s not a problem with just immigrants. These are typically addicts looking for some quick cash to get high. So the thieves are as diverse as the drug epidemic itself. They cover all
Races and genders. As far as a certain look, the guy in the video fits the description. Adults walking around with book bag, and a hoodie up on, are a red flag. Sure it’s not 100% in cities there are people that walk and take public transportation, but the employees will watch them if they come in to a store. Especially if they are moving around like they are on a mission.
The real problem is that is no real penalty. They never get arrested and charged with anything. They worst that happens is they get caught and trespassed from the store. The risk/reward is in the shop lifters favor.
And we need to go after the designers that created this environment

The simple solution is to price everything starting at $1000. With a $1000 coupon provided at the register. Then civilized society can get around another communist Democrat media/party attempt and destroying the country.
