IMHO his part was the worst. Pairing Bruce Springsteen and Stevie Wonder though, genius! Also, you can't even tell who the gay people are here but they are definitely there.
We were at that point just before the election of 2008
THEN the Party and President of Division were put in power, and now, we are back to the 50s, Late 50s, not to late to get it back but the regressive democratic party moves backward
Right? I've been on this earth for a while now and I haven't experienced or seen real racism or segregation until the last 4 years or so. And I had to live down south for a good 2 years.
Yikes, Dylan is hating every second of that by the look of it. He looks how I feel at any large gathering where people are all being 'happy' about something that is objectively boring and awful. Like weddings etc.
I noticed back then the movies were just as diverse or representative of the population count. Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence, Will Smith, etc. had their own set of franchises. Romancing the Stone or Jewel of the Nile had Muslims in prominent roles and such. Nowdays it's like Black are 50% of the population given the amount shown in certain shows or time eras. Hell, Asians were highly shown a lot back in the day with the kung fu trend with Jackie Chan, Jet Li, etc. as main stays. You don't see much or any of that as before. I think Blacks have become more mainstream and taken over to some degree.
More like typecast rather than stereotype. It was the phase around that time. Now it's superhero movies. Of course I am talking about Hollywood movies depicting Asians back in the 90's.
It was a stereotype, typecast, discrimination and racism. People thought all Chinese people knew martial arts (stereotype). The only roles were as servants and martial artists (discrimination, typecast and racism).
I have noticed many more Asian actors in commercials and TV shows in 2022.
Good point but if you're going to talk about Asian cinema you have to start with Bruce Lee.
I was just saying this to someone in real life the other day when we let our kids watch Strange World. Obviously, it was going to be the wokiest woke of the wokes but why when mixing the races it always has to be black and white? Why can't it ever be Mexican and yellow or middle Eastern and a black? Maybe an orthodox Jewish girl and Buddhist guy in full temple gear mode. I don't know something like that but why does it always have to be about black people?
Because thats what we are is a bunch of Black and White people being told to fight each other by Jews and Muslims who pretend to fight each other but really own every aspect of our lives
Only a vile misanthrope would take a beautiful event and turn it into something ugly.
Some people needed help.
Singers, including Dylan, wanted to join in the effort. It had nothing to do with diversity. Just many people wanting to help. They organized the event to raise money for a great cause.
I still own that record! Not only a nice song, but I knew my money would contribute to helping, also.
"... Bob Geldorf wanted to do something to alleviate the suffering in Ethiopia.
Geldof began recruiting musicians. He called Sting and Simon Le Bon, who agreed to participate along with the rest of Duran Duran, and recruited Spandau Ballet after a chance meeting with the band's guitarist Gary Kemp at an antiques shop in London. Geldof said: "It suddenly it hit me. I thought, 'Christ, we have got the real top boys here', all the big names in pop are suddenly ready and willing to do this... I knew then that we were off, and I just decided to go for all the rest of the faces and started to ring everyone up, asking them to do it." https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_They_Know_It%27s_Christmas%3F
I love that song. What are you on about? I'm all for it. I was a child when that came out and I remember everything. USA for Africa was all about feeding Ethiopia. There would be food drives in every school donating canned foods like crazy. I was there and part of it, I experienced it all. That's the point I was making. Back then we were already united and it wasn't until the last 4 years I actually experienced racism and segregation.
"until the last 4 years I actually experienced racism and segregation."
LOL! Slavery, Jim Crow laws, lynchings, Black code laws, White European only immigration laws, miscegenation laws, KKK violence, pro-slavery Civil War, Trial of Tears, genocide, massacres in synagogues black churches and Mosques, Walmart anti-Hispanic massacres, Buffalo anti-black massacre, thousands of sunset towns villages and cities, Tulsa massacre, George Floyd killing, book bans of POC female LGBTQ Jewish authors, Chinese flu slur incites anti-Asian violence, etc..
You must be gaslighting!
BTW, right-wingers hate cooperation for the greater good. You consider it Socialism.
I didn't know you were that old. Maybe dementia is finally kicking in. It's so funny how you lunatic leftists always take everything out of context. Yes stupid, this country started out bad, and racism was real due to tribalism and countries conquering other countries to expand empires. I wasn't around in the 50s and 60s so I didn't experience all the hate and segregation from that era. My point was by the 80s we were making progress and finding ways to come together. It would've worked too if it wasn't for your kind. Your sick and racist kind destroyed everything we worked so hard for. Because of your kind, we will be going back to only white and black drinking fountains.
It's "interesting" that the right doesn't understand that, by even suggesting/implying diversity is being forced on them, what they're illustrating is that they don't want any.
how you can twist your right wing position to
"Because of your kind, we will be going back to only white and black drinking fountains."
is truly amazing
I'm not twisting anything. Everything has to do with skin color or who you are sleeping with these days. White people are getting rubbed out and so many white people are hating their own skin color for no reason.
Mussolini, Hitler, Zedong, and Stalin said the same thing. All four were socialists.
It is not necessary to consider something when it is already a fact.
