Prolonged Vote Count is Ridiculous

The American citizen has every right to feel vote counting is simple, objective and rapid. The longer it takes, the more suspicion and cynicism is created. Those whose candidates lost must have confidence that they lost fairly. But it’s hard to maintain faith in a system that really would not suffice in a high school homecoming queen election

reply

The voting count takes longer now because of all the stupid rhetoric against the machines.

The protective measures make the count take longer, making people more suspicious of the final count.

As usual, right-wing stupidity feeds its own stupidity.

So since you obviously have years of first hand experience with vote tabulation, exactly how long should it take for a state to certify an election result?

reply

Throughout most of my life, America had a couple of months of political campaigning before Election Day, with results tabulated and announced no later than the next morning. Now we biennially have a year of posturing and campaigning followed by an extended voting season and then, despite our technological advances, days and even weeks of uncertainty as votes are counted. Even then, extended litigation often ensues. The whole thing has become a clown show unworthy of a great nation.

reply

The number of people voting has doubled compared to 40 years ago, and I'm gonna take a wild guess that penny pinching states haven't proportionally increased the number of vote counters to match. And yes, technology has advanced, but people absolutely don't trust those methods for vote counting. So in extremely close races such as Arizona, it's gonna take a few days if not a week, for the election officials to tabulate an accurate result.

reply

republicans simply don't know WHAT they want.

They whine about machines being used to count ballots because of possible electronic vote tampering, but then whine when it takes so long to count the votes by human hands.

While it WOULD make a difference if the vote counting in all states followed the same process, the fact remains that it simply isn't, which is why some states require a longer time period...but that is how it's ALWAYS been...and besides...why is it that republicans never complain when the drawn-out vote counts result in a republican win? -eyeroll-

reply

But California had the lowest percentage tallied a few days ago. Less that 60% while most states were 80-100%.

reply

They are simply following California law.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

As a member of the first generation to grow up on Sesame Street(I was three when it premiered) I find this hilarious!

It’s because the Dems forgot which car trunk the “we may need these” ballots to ensure the Arizona Democrat for Governor would win. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Feel huh? How ridiculous.

It takes as long as it takes because there are safeguards and rules so that the vote is honest. As opposed to Trump you just FEELS like he won, and FEELS like his people should attack the Capitol and kill the VP along with Democrats who think it is a good idea to defend the current system which we know works. Now we know even better the system worked.

No one is against anything that will make the voting system better. It's just that Republicans think it is OK to apeshit over their feelings that have been deliberately inflamed by Right-wing activists and think-tanks.

It's not that you people are necessarily Right-wing that is the problem, it is that you only want the changes made that you feel would be good for you, with no regulation or citizen involvement - and by lies or different levels of fraud and violence. To fake the voice of the people by only allowing those people who agree with you to vote.

Face it, you are all Anti-American.

You are clearly not a republican, yet you spend so much time speaking for them in your posts. It undermines any point you’re attempting to make. Your rants remind me of Trump.

American citizens absolutely have the right to feel like vote counting is simple, objective, and rapid. Arguing against that point over a single word choice the OP made is pedantic. I was frustrated over the amount of time it took to tabulate results after this last election. It’s not that I doubt the results, but I hope that future elections are finished in a more timely manner. I think that’s the only point the the OP was expressing, but then you launched into some rant about Trump and all republicans.

Maybe you’re too young or blinded by bias to remember that democrats objected to presidential election results in 2001, 2005, and 2017. In each of those instances the democratic candidate had already conceded the race. Those democrats weren’t defending the system then, when they lost. I remember when John McCain tanked his own town hall event in New Hampshire in 2008, defending Obama as a decent family man. I also remember his concession speech when he urged his supporters to offer goodwill and find ways to bridge differences and come together. It was one of the best political speeches I’ve ever seen. You should take his advice.

All political parties only want changes that benefit themselves, but there is a difference between individuals’ political values and their party affiliation. Right wing politics are vital to this country. They keep the country from moving too far left. Conversely, the left keeps the country from moving too far right. I believe that each end of the political spectrum is extreme in its own way. The perpetual struggle between the two is important. Some issues will move left, others right; that’s a good thing. Demonizing the right because you disagree with their policies is turning you into the very thing you’re whining about, Anti-American.

Hahahaha, you think I'm reading past that, after your irrelevant claims and the comments you've made in the past? Nope.

reply

Of course you read the whole thing. Lying about it makes you seem even more foolish.

reply

Republicans pass laws to keep mail-in votes from being counted before election day, knowing full well that it takes longer to process and compare signatures.
