Poll: Biden now leads Trump by widest margin in 6 months

As President Biden’s approval rating continues to bounce back from its summertime lows, a new Yahoo News/YouGov poll now shows him leading former President Donald Trump in a 2024 rematch by the widest margin since March.

The survey of 1,634 U.S. adults was conducted from Sept. 2 to Sept. 6 — immediately after a combative primetime speech last Thursday, in which Biden blasted “Trump and the MAGA Republicans” as “extremists” who “threat[en] the very foundations of our republic.”

The poll found that if the next presidential election “were held today,” 48% of registered voters would choose Biden, while 42% would choose Trump. Biden’s new 6-point lead is 3 points larger than his edge in the previous Yahoo News/YouGov survey from late August (Biden 45%, Trump 42%) and 4 points better than his average lead across all Yahoo News/YouGov surveys conducted between April and July (Biden 44%, Trump 42%). The poll’s margin of error is approximately 2.6%.

Most Americans don't like Trump and he will lose in 2024 if he even runs.

wow, a whopping 1,634 U.S. adults, that poll is legit!

thank you yahoo for your ground breaking news!

That's a decent size poll, margin of error 2.4%

I like looking at combination of polls and seeing the trends. If trends are moving it treks you something.

If you look at this one, you can see that Biden's disapprove- Approve rating has gone from -19 to -11 in just a month and a half. That's quite a movement suggesting that people are realizing he is having significant success.

Another interesting chart there is the comparisons between Biden and other Presidents at the same point in their presidency. The most interesting is the comparison with Ronald Reagan. While Biden's approval is low, he is a full percentage point ahead of Reagan. Reagan was dealing with a recession and was considered too old by many. He went on to win one of the biggest. Electoral victories two years later.

Yeah, I'm sure yahoo used perfect methodology on this, especially incorporating Biden's 30% overall approval, the lowest of any president in history lmao.

I bet no one here can even explain what a "MAGA Republican" even is, nor can they explain what is "extreme" about them.

reply

I guess it depends where you look. Gallup has Biden's approval rating at 44%. Where did you 30% from?

I'd call self-identifying as a domestic terrorist pretty extreme!

Now with your own words.

MAGA Republicans a month earlier as CPAC: "We are ALL domestic terrorists"
MAGA Republicans Yesterday: "How dare you say all Republicans are extremists!"

*Question: Who was the "all" that Republicans at CPAC were referring to? All Republicans, or all MAGA Republicans? Wouldn't that mean it was the MAGA Republicans themselves that were calling ALL Republicans extremists, or where they only speaking for Trump supporters? How many non-MAGA Republicans called out this CPAC claim?

"... Most Americans don't like Trump and he will lose in 2024 if he even runs."

Why do you think the Republicans are nominating so many 'StoptheSteal' candidates and other election deniers for key positions? They're gonna stack the deck before Trump or DeSantis or whatever wannabe fascist ends up being the 2024 nominee gets on the ballot.

Hell, the Republicans just filed a lawsuit to overturn the 2020 election in Michigan. It's been nearly two fucking years! And they still can't accept that fucking guy lost to Biden. It pisses them off.

reply

What do they expect to happen in Michigan? That they're going to find evidence that will reinstate Trump as president? What a bunch of crybabies.

reply

six points is scarily close. too close. I know Biden has a lot of flaws, but come on.
