This guy deserves a big ol' Nelson laugh!

Richard Michetti, 29, pleaded guilty to a charge of aiding and abetting obstruction of an official proceeding last May. In addition to the nine-month prison sentence, he will have to pay $2,000 in restitution and faces 24 months of supervised release.


Michetti joined the crowd that stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 and sent pictures and texts to his then-girlfriend during the riot, according to prosecutors. He texted claims that the election had been "stolen" and disparaged his former girlfriend as a "moron" for her skepticism over those claims.

He gave her a detailed account of his participation in the riot via text, and she referred the matter to authorities the following day, including photos he sent her of the riot. He was arrested on Feb. 23, 2021, for his participation in the riot.
