As an ex-marine sharpshooter myself, I agree with him. It would do very little, if anything, to reduce homicides, especially those committed with illegally obtained firearms, but I still think it's a good idea and would go a long way toward preventing accidents due to carelessness and mishandling. It would also aid those who found themselves having to defend themselves by improving their skillset, and would make it easier to track legally owned firearms. Again, though, such measures would barely scratch the surface of mass shootings.
