Trump: We were told. I thought Secret Service was involved in that, actually. And you get hit with fruit, it’s — no — it’s very violent stuff. We were on alert for that.

His fears are justified. Donald Trump is a senior citizen so a blow to the head could be fatal. People have died after getting hit by a golf ball and a green/ripe tomato could have a similar impact. I couldn't find it online but there was a case of a person suffering a debilitating stroke after their neck artery was hit by a golf ball. The legal firm in the link below details numerous injuries suffered by golfers.
