I'll take his/her mocking as an opportunity to deliver some history because Conservative parents are banning books written by women, people of color and LGBTQ.
Women were chattel aka: property. No voting rights, no right to own or inherit property, birth control and birth control information for married women were both illegal. A wife couldn't decide not to have sex with her husband so marital rape was legal. Entire occupations were forbidden. Ivy League universities didn't admit women.
As recently as the mid-70s, a working wife couldn't get a credit card or bank loan without permission from her husband who had to cosign. Women who were raped were "asking for it" if they weren't virgins or dressed "a certain way". That was the line of questioning on the witness stand during rape trials.
Women rights were won by fighting for them!
Some people, including women, proudly proclaim they're not feminist or against women rights without knowing the opportunities opened up for them by other women.

shareIt won't be popular but I have to agree about universal suffrage. Sounds great, in theory. In reality, there are millions of freeloaders who get to vote on how to extort money and benefits from those who work for a living. Maybe Heinlein was onto something.

Even the some of the Founding Fathers of America said that the republic will begin to crack once the citizens realize they can vote for their own interests. This is why the original voting system was landowners only. It was common sense.
We can actually return to this system without excluding via race, sex, or religion. If we switch to a net-tax payer voting system, it would fix a lot of the problems America has. It will never happen before the collapse I'm afraid...too many freeloaders now that want their gibs. They don't realize the gibs are coming to and end no matter what. It would be so much easier for them to give the gibs up voluntarily, rather than forcefully.
