One of the motivations of Jan 6. was racism. Agree or disagree?
I agree with this. One of the insurrectionists was captured on camera carrying a Confederate flag for some reason - and I bet it's not a good one.
shareI agree with this. One of the insurrectionists was captured on camera carrying a Confederate flag for some reason - and I bet it's not a good one.
shareOh, dammit stop it. The Confederate flag doesn’t equate to racism! Only to the ignorant! God help us to deal with nitwits like the OP! Good Grief! So scary! A Confederate flag was carried so it signified Jan. 6 was about racism! RAAACISM! RAAACISM! RAACISM!
shareDo you know the history of the confederate flag? Might want to brush up on history before making yourself look foolish.
shareThe Confederacy wanted Blacks to remain slaves. Yes, that qualifies as racism.
shareNU UH! Twas about state rights...
State rights being to keep blacks as slaves. Shhh!
Everything qualifies as racism to you, Komrade Keeloid.
Why do you refuse to answer why you LIED and said I make racist posts?
You're too much of a dirtbag coward to respond. LIAR.
A higher percentage of black families in the pre-war South owned slaves.
shareLink?
shareKey Komrade Keeloid, how 'bout a link to those racist post you LIED about me making? You're a hypocritical LIAR and scumbag of the highest order.
shareWhen I first heard about it it was from someone named Woodson being interviewed on the radio, he claimed it was according to the US census at at the time.
Not sure if it's the same person mentioned in the article below, they discussed how there are two Woodsons.
https://www.africanamerica.org/topic/did-black-people-own-slaves
(notice who wrote the article, I'll have to read closer to see how he spins it)
PS Indians (Native Americans) owned black slaves too.
"A higher percentage of black families in the pre-war South owned slaves."
No. There was not a "higher percentage".
Stop making up nonsense!
The article talks about raw numbers.
Sure more whites held slaves because there were more whites.
You're attempting to backtrack.
"A higher percentage of black families in the pre-war South owned slaves."
Your previous quote above was untrue. Period.
"...there were more whites."
No, again. There were more white slaveowners because they created, controlled and benefitted from the Atlantic Slave Trade.
Something tells me you didn't pay any attention in math class.
Let me give you a math lesson.
I'll use an extreme example. Suppose there are 2 free black families in the Old South, if 1 black family has slaves that's 50%.
If there were 20,000 white families in the Old South and 500 of them held slaves that's 2.5 %.
50% is > 2.5%
Simple enough? Get it now?
Oh, wow, Keelai, you just got owned. I feel embarrassed for you.
shareThe Woodson I heard on the radio was from this organization...
https://woodsoncenter.org/
I have no doubt the white supremist-race-pimp Democrats and their useful idiot black followers are 100% opposed to what they are trying to do.
> The Confederate flag doesn’t equate to racism!
If there is anything that equates to racism in the USA is it the Confederate Flags, and to a racist nothing equates to racism.
It was a damn battle flag! You people made it racist!
shareOh, it was my fault ... I had no idea, I'm sorry making you slaveholder insurrectionists look racist.
shareI need to know how you found out I have a plantation? I grow nothing but cotton as I hear it’s the up and coming thing. Have to go and check on my property. There are about 15 in the fields. Mighty good workers. Wait! Wait! This isn’t 1860? Whew! What a damn nightmare! How horrible! Treating Black folks as property! It’s barbaric! It’s man’s inhumanity to man!
I don’t understand how I could dream something so awful. Do you suppose it’s because you called me a slaveholder and an insurrectionist? That’s what dreams are about. You dream about things which happened to you during the day. It’s like when you cut someone to pieces with words, like you do, you may dream about dismembering the person in a nightmare. But, the worst dreams are lucid dreams…you are unable to escape. You know you’re dreaming, but you are frozen. I did my thesis on dreaming,
I’m just happy it’s not 1860. I’m overjoyed I’m not a slaveholder insurrectionist. 🙏🏻 Have a good day…and night!
I have no idea what all that means.
shareYou idiots are completely brainfucked over this.
I disagree. Most of the people who participated in the riot were Trump die-hards who had suffered severe financial losses due to the various local lockdowns. A lot of the people got caught up in the madness of crowds similar to a lot of the BLM riots that broke out across the country. It's a bigger deal when rioters storm the capitol but it's similar behavior witnessed when the mobs burned down the police station and the strip mall.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9250787/Nearly-60-people-charged-Capitol-riots-financial-troubles.html
The confederate flag is a symbol of the south. Not all people carrying confederate flags want to enslave black people. Slavery was definitely a big reason for the confederate states to secede but the union fought the confederacy to preserve the union. Lincoln's emancipation proclamation only freed the slaves in the confederate states BUT he would have freed all slaves on the continent if his big emphasis was slavery. Many scholars argue that other factors that caused the southern states to secede were tariffs and states' rights. The opinion piece below argues that the Morrill tariff was a big factor in the secession of the confederate states since the southern citizens were impacted more by the retaliatory tariffs.

Thank you for a thoughtful and truthful reply. I look upon the Confederate flag as a symbol of southern pride. “Don’t tread on me” comes to mind.
share"Don't tread on me," equates to "I want to go it alone."
So go ahead, go somewhere where you don't use public services. Buy yourself an island, and go it alone.
Otherwise, leave the rest of civilized society alone and stfu.
Do you just pull this stuff out of your ass? Don't tread (walk) on me means nothing of the sort.
"The snake was an established symbol for America at the time. Benjamin Franklin notably used it, saying the rattlesnake never backed down when provoked, which captured “the temper and conduct of America.”
The tread in Gadsden’s defiant phrase, don’t tread on me, means “to step, walk, or trample so as to press, crush, or injure something.” And so, with its tongue flicked, fangs out, and body coiled in defense, the rattlesnake (and motto) warns: “If you dare put your foot down on me, I will strike.”
AND, BLM and antifa caused BILLIONS of dollars in damages, murder, rape and innocent peoples businesses and livelihoods being destroyed. That's okay, though.
share60 is not most.
The Southern governors each stated their reason for joining the Confederacy to be maintaining slavery. You can google their speeches online. I suggest you read them.
The Confederacy tried to destroy the United States. They are traitors. The Confederate flag is a flag for traitors. Obviously, that flag doesn't represent the South since most Southerners reject it.
Scapegoating, deflection and not taking responsibility for one's own crimes show a lack of character. The Jan. 6th insurrectionist mob is rightfully being prosecuted for horrible treasonist crimes. Their leaders who incited them also need to be held accountable - not just the little guy.
And you are one sick puppy! Not worth my time commenting to a damn Know-it-All! Why don’t you do everyone a favor and take a long walk off a short pier.
shareYou just lost that debate, just like every other one you engage in.
Look, just go away and quit embarrassing yourself.
You are always so desperate to back up your stupidity, and it always fails. Pathetic !
Yeah? You lost the debate on your completely made up definition of "don't tread on me", because leftists make up whatever supports their despicable agenda, so STFU, leftist.
shareIt's kind of like China ... if you allow slave labor to continue, you allow the immorality of slavery to continue, but you also allow very vicious and inhuman people to pile up a massive stack of wealth that threatens other countries. Down with the Confederacy, down with the South. They do the same thing with the people there ... they are the poorest, unhealthiest, most uneducated people in the country. The Southern states rank almost dead last in every metric among the states.
They should get to work trying to fix their toxic racist exploitative system not arguing in favor or a flag that in America means almost the same thing as the Nazi flag does in Germany.
Financial losses do not make people want to defend statues ya damn ignoramus.
China and statues are irrelevant to this whole conversation. I don't place in any faith in metrics since the numbers can be easily manipulated. The article below details teachers who were caught doctoring test scores to meet benchmarks.
https://abcnews.go.com/US/atlanta-cheating-178-teachers-administrators-changed-answers-increase/story?id=14013113
While there are some exceptions, most individuals are responsible for their health, education and wealth. You lefties can't blame the system or the state for all your failures. You seem to think that there is still a toxic racist exploitative system in the south but the civil war has been over for a long time. There are plenty of opportunities for industrious people to succeed in the south.
The article below mentions reasons for people to fly the confederate flag. Some people want to commemorate the civil war and others see it as a symbol of the south. I have an appreciation for the flag since I was born in the south and I've lived in four southern states.
https://www.bbc.com/news/magazine-23705803 *** Objective confederate flag article ***
> I don't place in any faith in metrics since the numbers can be easily manipulated.
That's a problem since that is what science and decisions are made from. I get that a lot of people lie and cheat all the way to the top, but you are talking about throwing everything away because you hear a few anecdotal stories. The meat of life is always in making differentiations and not just throwing up one's arms in hopelessness.
> You lefties can't blame the system or the state for all your failures.
And neither can your righties, so why even say that unless you are just trying to start an argument or be a jerk?
> You seem to think that there is still a toxic racist exploitative system in the south but the civil war has been over for a long time.
There might be a better way to communicate your uncertainty about what I said rather than to assume you have perfect knowledge and I am always wrong. You could ask why I think what you think I think - and check ... but it does seem like to me you never do check on anything you just assume you know enough to guess about everyone else and lump them into the label of lefty.
I spent a couple years working in the heart of the deep south for the government. The fairly modern town I lived in held a KKK march while I was there. Also while I was there the black people who worked in the areas where I could see what was going on routinely faced little snipes and barbs directed at them. So, yes, I would say that is toxic, and that was in the government/military where it is somewhat regulated. Outside businesses were worse.
There could be lots of reasons I smoke near people or fart in elevators ... but usually as a loonie lefty I try to think about how others might be affected by my words and actions and avoid trying to make them feel bad. Is that a foreign concept to you, or do you disagree with that. Is making other people feel shitty your mission statement in life?
i live in the South as a kid, and when I was a kid it was cool to think of ones self as a Rebel, as opposed to being a Yankee. Later when I went to school and grew up and found out what that was about I dropped that particular sensibility - because I do not support the Confederacy, slavery, KKK, Nazism and do not want to be associated with anything close to those ideals.

When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things.
Eh, whose to say. Tribalism of that nature usually does bring out the worst in people though. I'm sure there was a mixture of hating on black people as well as hating on Jewish people, but most of them just fell for an orange liar.
shareYou are projecting unsubstantiated claims. And your kind calls US liars? I would say Tribalism is more suited for the BLM thugs who you tend to ignore. You know the ones Burning, Looting & Murdering last year. Carrying a Confederate battle flag does not deem a broad brush hatred of Blacks or Jewish people. So please get off YOUR lying soap box.
shareTribalism was indeed responsible for the riots last year. That tribalism was started by the illegal death of George Floyd.
Tribalism was also responsible for Jan 6th. That tribalism was started by Trump's Big Lie.
The difference between us is, I want the illegal deaths of black people to end so the tribalists don't feel the need to burn and loot innocent businesses, and I want the Big Lies to end so the tribalists don't feel the need to overturn legitimate elections.
What you are doing is using the riots to excuse Jan 6th because you don't give a shit what damage Trump's lies create as long as it's oppositional to the democrats.
Just like you went along with Randall. Every. Fucking. Time. That's the tribalism I'm talking about.
Now you are the liar! Dammit! I hate calling people liars. They may not be aware they are lying so let me set the record straight. I did NOT go along with Randall every profanity laced time!
And I’m not using the riots to excuse the Jan. 6 uprising. I said as much. You must have missed it. They were wrong and we sure the hell didn’t gain points. We lost ground. So please stop accusing me of saying things of which I’m not guilty. In your mind and to every other lib on this board I’m guilty because you say so. Why? Because I’m a conservative and a Trump voter. You and your ilk believe I should be in the pits of hell because I voted for the narcissist! They just may close the door after y’all when you get there. Ever hear of bearing false witness against someone? You pompous ass!
What you should do is open up your mind and realize how stupid you are ! God ! Everything you are supporting is reprehensible ! We The People are sick of Systemic Racism, but people like you want to call it Riots, Murder, and Looting. rump is a Fascist In Waiting, and people like you Embrace it. What the hell do you think is good about your choices? It's like Covid. We can either do something or let it over run us, and we have science and compassion on our side. What the hell is on your side? The status quo? What big business and big money wants us to continue to do?
shareThe stupider someone is the smarter they think they are. But stack them up against really smart people and they stand out ... like OP does obviously.
shareYou are a reprehensible piece of garbage. Either that, or you're a troll to make Democrats look worse than they already do. NO ONE with more than one brain cell could actually believe the world burning garbage you vomit up. Shame on you.
shareThere you go again, you are claiming that the people who are burning, and looting major cities while also murdering cops and innocent people aren’t responsible for their actions. You are claiming that they can’t stop rioting and killing people until “the illegal deaths of black people ends”. If that’s the case then BLM and Antifa should all be institutionalized if they can’t stop themselves from rioting.
Also in case you care there is little to no evidence that there is some kind of conspiracy to illegal kill black people among the cops. White people are killing by cops almost twice as frequently as black people are yet blacks vastly outnumber whites in gangs. If anyone is being disproportionally being victimized by the cops it is white people. You don’t care about solving any problems nor do you care about any black lives, all your cult wants to do is perpetuate a false narrative and lies so that you can score political points. It’s really very disgusting, not to mention racist.
EDIT: Also there was confirmed voter fraud in the 2020 election, not only that you would have to somehow prove that Trump knew there was no fraud at the time which you haven’t. I have already explained the flaws in your logic:
- In the case of the 500+ 2020 riots: George Floyd dies —> The left sanctions rioting and lies about racism —> Riots happen
- In the case of 1/6: Cases of voter fraud turn up —> Trump calls it out and requests that the election results be investigated (as he should and as any DemoKKKrat would have had they lost such a shady election) —> 1/6 happens
In the first case you ignore the middle step yet you aren’t willing to do the same for the second case because you are just connecting the dots in whatever direction you have to to justify the conclusion that you want. If you seriously were so concerned about 1/6 you would be demanding justice for the over 500 riots caused by BLM and Antifa who did torch government buildings BTW, but no instead you pathetically try to make whatever excuse you can because you care more about politics than peoples lives. You and your cult are some pretty sick people.
Racism is just White people putting out their perfectly legitimate grievances. There is nothing oppressive or inherently immoral about wanting sovereignty and an end to the exploitation of your ethnic group.
shareThe head of the enitre riot was conducted by a BLM member named John Sullivan.
He recorded the enitre thing, he persuaded cops to abandon their post, which they do walk away.
He is the only constantly yelling orders.
The capital riot were black and white American Patriots that see there is something very off with this Democrat party.
The Democrats have become anti American and dangerous to the citizens way of life.
The Democrat party are the true insurrectionist, they have sold out the country
