Actually, the white woman stole more money and had a long record unlike the black woman.
The same Ohio Court; two white judges; one day a part.
"The white woman committed more crimes, over a longer period of time. She stole more money than the Black woman. She had 21 more charges and cost taxpayers six times more money. She was facing 60 years in prison while the Black woman’s maximum sentence was three years. Yet the Black woman received more prison time than prosecutors wanted her to spend in jail.
Unlike Bosworth (white woman), Gallagher (black woman) pleaded guilty. Unlike Bosworth, Hopkins was only charged with one count of theft in office. Unlike Bosworth, Hopkins had already found a new job, completed an in-patient program for her gambling addiction and had promised to repay the money she stole.
Nationwide, Black people convicted of crimes received 20 percent longer sentences than similarly situated whites who commit the same offenses, according to the U.S. Sentencing Commission. In Ohio, the state’s Black residents are imprisoned at 6 times the rate of Ohio’s white residents, according to the Sentencing Project. In 1999, a report from the Commission on Racial Fairness found that Black Ohioans are sentenced to prison at grossly disproportionate rates compared to their white counterparts." https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/ohio-court-sentences-black-woman-193000949.html
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Rick Bell told 51-year-old Karla Hopkins that she compounded her theft by liquidating her public employee pension shortly after the district discovered the theft. The move prevented the state from seizing the money to pay back the district.
...
Bell quickly quizzed Hopkins about her pension and how much money she took out after her arrest. She eventually said she took all of it out.
Ohio law requires any money left in the public pension account of someone convicted of theft in office to go toward restitution. Hopkins told Bell that she did not know about the law and that she took the money out to pay her bills because she lost her job.
“You knew that you had stolen money,” Bell said. “You didn’t use that money to pay restitution that you knew you owed.”
Bell told Hopkins that she compounded her situation by taking money out of her account.
...
Debbie Bosworth, a clerk in the village’s utilities and building departments, pleaded no contest to 22 counts, including third-degree felony theft in office charges. She admitted to stealing more than $20,000 a year as residents paid their water bills in cash. Bosworth resigned from the village shortly after village officials caught her in 2019 and began paying back the stolen money before she was charged. She also kept her pension intact and allowed prosecutors to seize more than $200,000.
It can be argued that paying back the money shouldn't affect the sentence, but the reporter in your story left that fact out completely, not allowing their readers to use that information in making up their minds.
Just another dishonest leftist pushing an agenda. This is why people don't trust the news anymore.

"Your link doesn't say anything differently from mine."
Your link:
Hopkins told Bell that she emptied her pension — she didn’t know how much was in it but said, after taxes, she received about $20,000 — to pay her bills after the school fired her.
No mention about emptying her pension was against the law, and that was the reason the judge gave for giving her time.

Clearly explains why Hopkins was sentenced to the time she got.

Using the phrase, "Unlike Bosworth" your biased reporter is insinuating that Bosworth didn't pay the money back.

Clearly explains that Bosworth began paying back the stolen money, and then her intact pension was used to pay it back also.
How retarded do you have to be not to see the difference?
This reporter writes this biased bullshit because they know there are idiots out there like you who will gulp it down without questioning anything.

Your post proves you're racist as well as illiterate and stupid since your own link is criticizing the racism, too!
Only a vile racist like yourself who believes a white woman repeatedly stealing over a period of 20 years ($20k ea. yr.) for a total of $250,000 committed a lesser crime than a recently unemployed, formerly mentally-ill black woman stealing one time out of economic desperation ($40k) who has since rehabilitated herself with therapy, a new job and repaying $5k.
"since your own link is criticizing the racism, too!"
Really? The article I posted doesn't mention the races of the two women. So how is it criticizing the racism?
I'll be waiting for your explanation.
"Only a vile racist like yourself who believes a white woman repeatedly stealing over a period of 20 years ($20k ea. yr.) for a total of $250,000 committed a lesser crime than a recently unemployed, formerly mentally-ill black woman stealing one time out of economic desperation ($40k) who has since rehabilitated herself with therapy, a new job and repaying $5k."
Blah, blah, blah. It's obvious you're too stupid to see the differences in the cases explained in the article. The racist is you, because you only see the races of the two women involved, not the facts surrounding the cases.
Like I said, the author of the article you posted knew her target audience: Dumbasses like you who have no critical thinking skills.
"The article I posted doesn't mention the races of the two women."
Of course it does, Sherlock! You're too dumb for words. I suggest you return to the article and use your own "critical thinking skills" to see the very obvious.
"The article I posted doesn't mention the races of the two women."
My poor intellectually-challenged friend is confused by my hint which was "SEE THE OBVIOUS". I'll give another.
The race of each women is easy to find even for an illiterate like yourself. The hint is that reading is practically unnecessary, therefore a quote isn't what you need to find.
If you're still too stupid to find the obvious, I'll tell you.
But you must admit you have no critical thinking skills and that I'm smarter than you. Of course, if you still cant find it, then your lack of thinking skills and stupidity are obvious.
Yes, they did! But your critical-thinking skills are lacking. Once again, I'm going to help you to develop them. You're welcome.
The author is stating the same thing that my article did, but in a more subtle way. (Maybe her boss is a racist POS who would be upset about her article. Who knows?) She doesn't write that Hopkins is black. Instead, she shows you in a photo.
The next step is to find the rest of the story since she clearly wants the reader to know that there is racism involved in the sentencing of these two women. If that wasn't her main goal, then she wouldn't have done an article about both women. Her article is about comparing the sentences of a black woman and a white woman who committed a worst crime.
Now, you need to find her reference to Bosworth being white. If you need a hint, it's in your article. It clearly stands out.
Need more hints, my triggered grasshopper? The path to Debbie Bosworth's photo is obviously highlighted, underscored, emphasized, accentuated, etc. in that article. Seek the obvious, and it will be found.
There are about seven hints.
Seriously, it took me less than half a minute to find what is taking you days. Don't continue to disappoint me!
Congratulations, Kinklink! You are now officially MC's dumbest poster!
The irony is that you couldn't find two photos in YOUR OWN link and one was at the beginning of the article in plain sight!!
To find Debbie Bosworth's photo all you have to do is click on the Debbie Bosworth link in the middle of the article. The one that's underlined and in blue staring you in the face! Duh!!!!
"To find Debbie Bosworth's photo all you have to do is click on the Debbie Bosworth link in the middle of the article. "
No, it wasn't in the 'middle of the article'. It was at the bottom of the page, one of the advertisement links to other pages.
"The article clearly and obviously mentions the race of both women."
By that logic, other things the article 'clearly and obviously mentions':

Former Maple Heights High School secretary sentenced to prison for stealing $40K from school
Former Maple Heights High School secretary Karla Hopkins is handcuffed after Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Rick Bell sentenced her to 18 months in prison for stealing more than $40,000 from school funds in 2017 and 2018.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- A judge sentenced a former secretary at Maple Heights High Schools to spend 18 months in prison for stealing more than $40,000 from school money meant for the Class of 2018.
Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court Judge Rick Bell told 51-year-old Karla Hopkins that she compounded her theft by liquidating her public employee pension shortly after the district discovered the theft. The move prevented the state from seizing the money to pay back the district.
Hopkins pleaded guilty in June to one count of theft in office, a third-degree felony. She faced anywhere from probation to three years in prison.
Hopkins stole the money between July 2017 and June 2018 from programs including the class of 2018′s dues and yearbook fees, auto tech, student council, flag-drill teams and book and ID badge fines, according to prosecutors.
Assistant Cuyahoga County Prosecutor James Gutierrez asked Bell to impose a 9 and 12 months prison sentence.
“She stole from kids, your honor,” Gutierrez said. “I have no idea why she did that.”
Defense attorney Bret Jordan told Bell that Hopkins, who has no prior criminal history, had been losing a struggle with mental health issues and a gambling addiction when she began stealing money. She completed an eight-week inpatient treatment program after her arrest and enrolled in a job development program that lined her up with a new job that she was supposed to begin on Tuesday. She also gave Jordan $5,000 to begin repaying the money that she stole, the attorney said.
Jordan said that if Bell sentenced Hopkins to prison, it would be harder for her to pay the district back because she would lose her job and have a more challenging time finding work after her release from prison. Jordan said she could fall into “a tailspin” if she did not continue receiving mental health and spiritual counseling that helped put her life back on track.
The Rev. Cynthia Rogers from Open Door Missionary Baptist Church told Bell that Hopkins had repeatedly expressed her remorse and desire to change during spiritual counseling sessions.
Hopkins repeatedly apologized in court on Tuesday.
“I want to pay the Maple Heights city students back,” she said. “I’m so sorry to Maple Heights City Schools for not living up to the trust that they entrusted in me. I had a lot of friends there. I’m so sorry to them all.”
“I understand and am grateful you’re going on a journey to better yourself,” the judge said. “But I think even your pastor would agree there has to be some consequence for your actions.”
Hopkins’ sentencing comes one day after another public employee who stole nearly $250,000 over 20 years from the village of Chagrin Falls received probation.
Common Pleas Court Judge Hollie Gallagher sentenced Bosworth to two years of probation.
not surprising. the judge who sentenced that rich kid Ethan couch to probation for ten years after sgetting drunk, stealing his dads vehicle, driving drunk, crippling someone in the crash and killed 4 people.
sentenced a black teen to 20 years imprisonment for drunk driving that killed one person. the difference? (besides couch killing and injuring far more) couch stole his dads truck while the black teen stole someone else's so it was a felony.
if people dont think there is racism in the USA I cant convince them
they cant seem to think there is racism unless its someone in a hood yelling they are doing something because "I hate minorities". to them it has to be this blatant and no other forms of racism exist
Yes, there is systemic racism throughout the U.S.. Chicago is in the U.S..
Giving stiffer sentences to black people than whites who commit worse crimes = racism.
