Why isn't autocracy popular in America?
Is it a bad messenger?
shareAutocracy is extremely popular since the GOP has become its political party.
You must have watched the Jan. 6th spectacle when their cultists smashed their way into the Capitol in order to install a dictator in lieu of a peaceful transfer of power.
Now, the GOP is trying to prevent voting.
Surely the GOP isn't so bad as to destroy democracy?
shareOf course, they are. The GOP can't stay in power in a democracy because of demographics. They are willing to support authoritarianism in order to stay in power.
shareWe can only hope that autocracy doesn't lead to a dictatorship.
shareAutocracy is the modern dictatorship.
Russia and Turkey are two examples of autocracy aka: illiberal democracy.

They don't see it as a demographic shift away from what they believe. They see it as an invasion of foreigners and leftist stealing this country from "real Americans", therefore, the shift towards fascism and quasi-dictatorships is necessary.

The citizens of China and Russia have never drunk from that cup, and once tasted, autocracies cannot compare (Myanmar is the lasted example)
These countries are doing their best not to let the people drink from it.
Republicans seriously want the US to become a military dictatorship like Myanmar.
The US Army said Wednesday that it will not investigate former Gen. Michael Flynn for statements he recently made in which he appeared to endorse a Myanmar-style coup occurring in the US.
