The term "free-speech zone" (or "protest zone" or similar terms) refers to a fenced-in or otherwise restricted area in which people are required to stay if they wish to speak critically of an event or person, display signs, and the like. Usually, a free-speech zone is remote from travel routes, convention centers, or other locations where protestors congregate to be seen and heard.
