You Can't Bring Politics Into Sports By Playing the National Anthem & Then Punish Athletes for Exeri

You can't bring politics into sports by playing the National Anthem and then punish Athletes for exercising their political First Amendment Right to protest political injustice. It just doesn't work like that. It makes the Deep State the hypocrites for who they are. It's either you're doing this for political reasons or not. You can't have it both ways. If you play the National Anthem then you better allow the National Freedom.

Fact check: Olympic athletes barred from staging protests at Tokyo Games

Our rating: True
The claim that Black Lives Matter apparel and other forms of political expression are banned at the Olympics is TRUE, based on our research. The International Olympic Committee said it would keep a rule that bars any “demonstration or political, religious or racial propaganda” for the Tokyo Games.

You better bar the National Anthem then as that falls under the umbrella of "political propaganda."

The entire point of the Olympics is they are supposed to foster peace and harmony between nations. Instead of competing with soldiers, they compete with athletes. This is known as Foreign or International Relations and international relations is part of politics. The hypocrisy of the International Olympic Committee is their very website supports social justice issues. You can't have it both ways. So you if you are going to force athletes to stand attention to national anthems you better allow them to resist injustice in their countries.

For anyone having confusion about whether the national anthem and the Olympics themselves are political.

links are to support points not make them. I asked you a question. What political message does playing the anthem make?

I think the difference here is that there are domestic politics and international politics, international being the anthems played by each competing team. That and the anthems aren't versing the lyrics but instead playing the music so nothing is really politicized from it. You don't bring domestic politics into the mix where other countries don't give a shit and it just makes your country look bad on the world stage. Only thing that ever happens are boycotts from other nations due to conflicts with other nations.

They can either bar her from attending the Olympics or just don't attend it as a whole so everyone can blame Gwen for screwing everyone else from being able to compete. You're there to represent your country. She's fine to do it when not on the world stage though as that is her right.

I like how the right has switched for taking the knee is bad to now accepting it as okay but turning your back to the flag is the new bad. At least that's what I got from it.

She's done this before but was punished by the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee. Funny how she's allowed to turn her back to the flag now while she wasn't allowed to raise a fist nearly 2 years ago.

If anthems were international, they'd be called International Anthems, but they aren't. They are called National Anthems. And they all fall under the umbrella of being political. So if you're going to force athletes to stand attention to a national anthem a very fascist (ie. forced nationalism) form of politics by the way (it should be optional) then you have to allow them to demonstrate in a small and unobstructive manner with political protest. Wearing a shirt or raising a fist is not obstructive and does not take any more time than the anthem does. It's all symbolic and symbolism shouldn't offend anyone, and if it does they are the ones being protested and need to change.
