Learn to read dipshit. The first round of stimulus checks excluded American citizens married to non-citizens. This round doesn't leave them out. Still no check for the non-citizen spouse though. You can't sign up for any federal benefits without a social security number. It's that simple. Which only citizens and green card holders (permanent legal residents) have.

What is it with right wingers having such a huge stick up their asses about illegal immigrants anyway? Throughout most of the country's history we had open borders. People rode horses back and forth between the US and Mexico with no border patrol around to stop them. Just like in a western. That's how it was. The fraction of our population that's here illegally is 3%, almost the lowest that number has been since the country's founding. And yet according to the screaming raging idiots on the far right... oh my god, it's an invasion!

Back in the early 19th century there was a 20 year period where immigration, primarily from Germany and Ireland, nearly doubled the population in some areas. The Know-Nothing movement (forerunners of Trumpism) arose as a backlash against this. But the sky never fell. In fact the economy boomed because of the wave of immigrants. That's what tends to happen. The economy is not a pie with a limited number of slices, and when people come in there's less pie for the people already here. That's not how it works. In reality, you get more economic activity and life improves for everyone. You'd think after so many waves of immigration large and small the reactionary knuckleheads would notice the pattern. Of course, stupid people are usually the ones who don't know their history. And those who don't remember history ...

It's just another of those "Culture War" issues. Stuff that appeals to the kind of dumbass redneck who hears someone speaking Spanish and gets triggered. We've all seen the YouTube clips. This is one of those cases where people go back and try to concoct a smart sounding rationale to justify a position they actually hold for dumb reasons.

It was $600 per week, its unemployment and covid relief all in one. Anyone that lost their job because of covid gets the money. So if both parents are affected they get $1200 a week.
