Peasants gets $600 from Mitch & Nancy

Why do they keep getting r- elected

reply

Both Nancy and Trump wanted at least $1200. This is all Mitch.

reply

Wow, UV! It almost sounds like you're sticking up for Trump, your daily punching bag!

reply

Trump is way better than McConnell. But that's because Trump does nothing and McConnell does all the dirty work.

reply

Bill was also stuffed full of corporate giveaways for the rich ... but of course it was. This was entirely predictable courtesy of Nancy and Mitch.

Not only was there a provision to forgive PPE loans to businesses but they're now allowed to deduct that amount from taxes ... but the loan was already free money and they also get to deduct?!! God what con.

Bill also includes provision that will make streaming pirated video a felony.

reply

Nancy caved

reply

Perhaps. If dems end up winning the Senate then she might have conceded too quickly. But they could always issue another check down the road.

reply

It wasn’t Mitch! It was your beloved Nancy! Read Rorikon’s post. Congress writes the bills.

”Politicians just passed a stunning $2.3 trillion catch-all spending bill, including $900 billion in COVID relief”

Read the above line again: ”... $2.3 trillion catch-all spending bill, including $900 billion in COVID relief”

What in the sam hill does billions of dollars in foreign aid have to do with relief for American people? Plus all the other pork included in a 6,000 page bill. The damn bill could have been only one page.

”All eligible people in the United States will receive ???? to assist them for everyday expenses during the dreadful pandemic known as Covid-19”

Congressional leaders have hashed out a massive, year-end catchall bill that combines $900 billion in COVID-19 aid with a $1.4 trillion omnibus spending bill and reams of other unfinished legislation on taxes, energy, education and health care. The huge bill is slated for votes on Monday — with lawmakers having only a few hours to read it before casting their votes.

Nancy called $1200.00 puny. Hmm? Yet $600.00 isn’t? She got all her damn pork included in the bill. The Covid-19 relief bill should have been a stand alone bill. I hope Trump vetoes the damn thing!

Pelosi's fault and not McConnell's, eh?

President Donald Trump on Tuesday night launched a surprise push to hike the stimulus checks in the COVID-19 relief package to $2,000 per person from $600.

Democrats cheered his demand, piling pressure on Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and leaving him in a no-win situation.

Trump released a video criticizing the $900 billion coronavirus relief package that congressional lawmakers passed on Monday and demanding they increase the checks.

Democratic leaders cheered Trump's announcement, saying they supported $2,000 checks and noting that Republicans had blocked earlier proposals with bigger checks.

Republicans repeatedly refused to say what amount the President wanted for direct checks. At last, the President has agreed to $2,000 — Democrats are ready to bring this to the Floor this week by unanimous consent. Let’s do it!

Pelosi's fault and not McConnell's, eh?

In a surprise video address on Tuesday night, President Trump said something House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) could finally get behind: The proposed stimulus checks of $600 in Congress’s coronavirus economic relief bill is “ridiculously low” and should be increased to $2,000.

Pelosi's fault and not McConnell's, eh?

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/stimulus-check-democrats-try-2000-dollar-direct-payments/
Speaker Nancy Pelosi said the House will try to pass the bill by unanimous consent — meaning that only one Republican member opposing the proposal needs to be present in order to block the bill.

I'm no fan of her, but of the two, she's the one trying. Even Trump is trying to tell you it's McConnell's fault.

reply

Absolutely not is she trying. She admitted holding up the bill until after the election! Trump has wanted $2000. Don’t you recall when she replied on the House floor $1200 was puny? Yet she passed thru the House a $600 amount! She is to blame due to all the perks & pork she wanted and got. Why should we spend billions in foreign aid, gender issues, arts, bailing out cities which the Leftist’s officials let anarchy run amok?

I wrote on this board the relief bill should be a stand alone bill. Well, saints preserve us! Pelosi agreed to a stand alone bill! Yay! Of course she always has something up her sleeve to use as a bargaining chip! Mitch had best sigh off on it!

reply

Before the election, she had leverage to get more than $1200. A bigger check would've made Trump look good before re-election. McConnell told her he would not pass it even though it made Trump look bad. Pelosi said very well then.

Now that the election is over, all of Pelosi's leverage is gone. Because Mitch knows it, he has hard-lined his position at $600. It doesn't matter if McConnell allows $600, $60, or $6. Pelosi can't do anything about it. McConnell's senate gives the final say.

Trump can possibly do something about it though. He can use his MAGA influence to make Mitch look really bad to get him to cave. We're kinda seeing it for the first time. Trump should've used that influence before the election. At least Pelosi tried.

That doesn’t negate what I wrote. She admitted she purposely did not pass the bill until after the election. She wanted to see if Biden won. The reason Mitch would not pass it is due to all the pork she added. He told Trump not to deal with her. Pelosi should have set all of her pork aside and agree to a stand alone bill. 6,000 pages and the struggling folks still don’t have it.

reply

"The reason Mitch would not pass it is due to all the pork she added."

At least you are willing to admit it was Mitch's refusal to pass Nancy's legislation. It actually had nothing to do with pork, as it had way less pork than Mnuchin's Cares Act which porked up his billionaire buds real good. Mitch passed that one with ease. Mitch held off on Nancy's because he didn't want anything interfering with ACB's confirmation. Mitch had already moved away from caring about Trump's re-election, and made the scotus his one and only priority.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/us-policy/2020/10/20/trump-economic-stimulus-pelosi/

In remarks at a closed-door Senate GOP lunch, McConnell told his colleagues that Pelosi (D-Calif.) is not negotiating in good faith with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, and that any deal they reach could disrupt the Senate’s plans to confirm Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court next week. Republicans have voiced concerns that a stimulus deal could splinter the party and exacerbate divisions at a time when they are trying to rally behind the Supreme Court nominee.

Back in October, there was the possibility the dems could hold up the senate enough to delay ACB's confirmation until after the election when dems hypothetically had control of the senate.

So passing Pelosi's bill meant the dems were delaying ACB until Biden's presidency. And refusing Pelosi's bill meant the dems didn't care about people. It was a classic 'damned if they do, damned if they don't' scenario.

reply

Lame. Not griping over free $, but I coulda used that other $600.

reply

People in the neighborhood already setting off fireworks right now. I guess it is enough.

reply

Fireworks are big bucks...sounds like they dont need the money.

reply

Yeah but wasn't 1200 on the table before the election and Nancy declined it for things to not look favorable for trump, should of took the 1200 back then nancy. You fart.

reply

But Mitch is on record for saying he would not vote on White House bill in the senate

reply

Actually McConnell stopped it.

reply

Because people in Kentucky and California are idiots?

reply

Remember when Nancy called $1,000 "crumbs?" But she called this $600 significant!

reply

And now Trump wants $2000 for each person. Perhaps a last ditch effort to get another potential chance to overturn the election? I don't know much about Biden, but signing the first stimulus is the only legit respect I had for Trump, who is other wise annoying and complains far too much about losing power and approval.

reply

From $1,600 down to $1,200 to now $600... Richest nation in the world they said. Best country in the world they said. Totally not 3rd world handouts they said. Well, Trump is right, V shape recovery, only need $600. No K here folks. You like top down economics? Enjoy it. This what it is like to get scraps of your tax paid money. Trickle down ya'll.

reply

Biden wants credit for giving money also. Take the 600 and he will do a 1000 0r 1200 in the spring.
