Your thoughts of when seeing Amy Barrett on the supreme court
I know when I see her I will be reminded about how much we don't need democrats.
shareI know when I see her I will be reminded about how much we don't need democrats.
shareI’ll be singling “americaaaaaaaaa, fuck yeah!”
shareAnger. Despair. But who knows maybe she'll be the type of justice that does not try to change precedent, only kill future progress.
shareDon't be in too much despair. Remember that Obama flipped two seats...replacing justices that had been appointed by Republicans. So far...Trump has only replaced justices who themselves had been appointed by Republicans. Until now, Trump has not shifted the court while Obama shifted it two places to the left. Even with replacing RBG, he's still not done as much as Obama did.
Also keep in mind that since ~1950, Republicans have appointed 2/3 of the justices and Democrats only 1/3, yet the right is always whining that if they could only get oooonnnnneeeeeee moooooorrrrrrreeeeeee judge, all would be right with their world, Roe vs Wade would be overturned, and Christianity would finally dominate the country.
I'm for packing the court. We pretend like it's some rule only 12 justices only 50 states. There are no such rules. Biden may have to be convinced to make DC and PR states though.
shareLet's assume Roe v. Wade is overturned. Now tell me what happens?
shareWhat do you mean? I assume what would happen is some states will make very stringent abortion laws where pregnancies can only be terminated to protect the life of the mother. But abortion will still be legal in other states where the states want it to be legal. Overturning Roe vs Wade AFAIK would not force all states to adopt the anti-abortion policies of some states.
But remember that when Roe vs Wade was passed, it was passed by a court that was composed of 7 justices appointed by Republicans and 2 appointed by Democrats. Of the 7 who voted for RvW, 6 were Republican appointed justices and 1 was a Dem appointed justice. Of the two opposed, one was Dem appointed and one was Republican appointed. So I am not sure the SC will ever change that ruling. Despite many justices personal opinions about abortion, it just might be that in the end, they'll conclude the constitution doesn't protect the fetus but DOES protect the pregnant woman.
So even if it does get overturned, as unlikely a scenario as it is, not very much would even change. So why the hell are all of you leftists making a big deal out of it? Look at all of the blue states. What do you think they'll vote for?
shareI don't know who you think you're talking to...but I never thought it was a big deal.
shareBecause Democrats have been using fear mongering over abortions for 40 years to get votes. These are the types of games you have to play when you no ideas or solutions to tackle the real problems the American voters face.
Worst case is RvW is overturned and it goes back to the states. Most will keep it legal. And some like California will make abortion free and provide tax payer funded transportation to planned abortion clinics anywhere in the state. Followed by complementary after parties. Because we know how the left loves to celebrate slaughtering the unborn.
I'll be reminded of how Merrick Garland got cheated out of a position on the Supreme Court, thanks to McConnell and the cheating Republicans.
shareHe didn't get cheated. He's winning. He's CHIEF JUSTICE!!

Also, hearing the SCOTUS's speak are mind openers if not amusingly enjoyable.
Amy Barrett also known as Typhoid Mary, was an Irish-born cook believed to have infected 53 people with typhoid fever, three of whom died, and the first person in the United States identified as an asymptomatic carrier of the disease.
shareI think we shouldn't make fun of the democrats when we see her on tv. Nope just kidding we will joke away at that pungent bunch.
