Because of the recent pandemic, I heard a story about pigs going to their expected slaughter.
They aren't raised to maturity, and are bred to be not too large and still young as to be tender meat.
One pork processor claimed they would have to euthanize 300 pigs a day if they weren't able to process them as usual.
I'm a meat eater, but this was a reminder how industrialized our treatment of animal flesh is, and it ain't pretty.

Yes, ethics enter into questions about animals. Yes, it is rational to try to minimize harm. Yes, people with empathy should impose their morality on sociopaths. And yes, if you are the worst part of humanity represented in animal cruelty videos, vegans are better than you.
