The Reason Opening States Won't Fix The Economy

Of course, Trump stupidly believed opening states would miraculously cause everybody to spend money and behave as if all is well. That's not happening. I told you so!

Georgia began opening on April 24. One month later, 40.3 percent of the state's workers — 2 out of 5 — has since filed for unemployment! Nothing is improving because people have no money to spend and they fear for their health so they're not going to risk it. There are new layoffs in retail, social assistance and health care.

In polls, 2/3 of Georgians believe the state opened too soon. Only 39% approve of the way Kemp has handled the situation.

“We’ve been chasing a bit of a false narrative that the economic hit is about the restrictions and not the disease itself,” said Julia Coronado, president and founder of Macropolicy Perspectives, an economic research consulting firm. “The economic story really isn’t about lockdowns, and we’re going to make mistakes by pursuing that narrative. It really is about the disease, and how fearful people are about getting sick, and how businesses are going to operate in a world where this virus is with us.”

Don't expect the economy to bounce back any time soon. And if Trump and Republicans refuse to help states, expect more layoffs. Wait until the evictions and foreclosures begin.

Trump also helped large businesses instead of small businesses which hire most workers!

It's obvious Trump is a moron who doesn't know what he's doing. His supporters are just as clueless. Four more years and the U.S. will resemble a "Mad Max" movie instead of "Contagion".
