10 things to think about to make you happier and improve the world

1. Join a union. Go on strike. Win a better deal for the workers.

2. Climate change is real and humans are contributing to it. It is not a matter of opinion. Act before it is too late.

3. If you want laws based on religion, first you must prove god exists and that he/she/it agrees with your position. You are welcome to believe in a god, but do not force your religion on others.

4. Read. Learn. Grow.

5. Go to art galleries.

6. Most improvements to society and people's lives throughout history are the result of left-wing activism.

7. Watch great cinema - from the days of silent films up to today. Let the beauty wash over you.

8. Look around you. Observe the people you see. Imagine what their lives are like.
Empathise. Do what you can to make life easier for others.

9. Challenge your prejudices. Often.

10. Be kind.

This was a good thread. I cannot believe I missed the member who had written it. Hopefully you find moviechat.org at some point.

reply

Wow! The Ten Commandments for SJWs.

1. Public employee unions (especially teachers) have almost destroyed California. Screw them to hell.

2. Anthropogenic climate change is a quasi-religious, ideologically motivated, pseudo-scientific diaper load. Act now to discredit this nonsense and its crooked purveyors.

3. Especially if forcing your religion on others involves beheading, stoning, explosions, shooting, stabbing, hijacking and crashing airplanes, and renting trucks to run over people on sidewalks.

4. Platitude.

5. Unfortunately, galleries have been taken over by ridiculous non-art produced by charlatans and no-talent graduates of university art programs who are funded, mostly reluctantly, by our tax money.

6. I laughed so hard at this one I almost busted a rib.

7. Is there actually any great cinema being produced today? Cukor's "A Star is Born" is still well-remembered sixty-five years after its release. Cooper's version will be forgotten within five.

8. Constantly observe people around you, especially the homeless, and be ready to defend yourself against an assault. Whatever their lives are like, it's no excuse for imposing on you or harming you. Make the lives of others easier by being responsible for your own upkeep and behavior.

9. Prejudices are often the result of extensive experience, careful observation, and rational consideration. Only challenge them when provided with evidence that is equally valid.

10. Return kindness for kindness. Otherwise, don't feel obligated. You are not a doormat.

You seem more angry and fearful than happy. You believe it's almost "too late" to save the world and you're preaching confrontation on several points.

6. Most improvements to society and people's lives throughout history are the result of left-wing activism.

Actually they're the result of Christianity, freedom (including capitalism), and certain scientific advances. Basically the more libertarian portions of Western Civilization.

reply

Not angry, not fearful, and absolutely opposed to confrontation. Just not a silly softbeard. Tend to agree with you on point 6.

reply

My reply was to the op. I agree with most of your points, and they're well said.

reply

Lmao!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for the laughs.

reply

I agree with all your statements, OP. Except one, the final one, number 10. I'd make a small revision:

10. Be Kind... TO THOSE WHO DESERVE IT. BUT TO THOSE WHO ARE DELIBERATELY TRYING TO MAKE THE WORLD A WORSE PLACE, BY CRUELTY, BY CHOSEN IGNORANCE, OR BY PLAIN SELFISHNESS...NEVER BACK DOWN AND ALWAYS CALL THEM OUT FOR BEING THE ASSHOLES THAT THEY ARE.

For a good example, just read some of the posts by the asshole who bumped this thread.
