Favourite leading hobbit: Frodo or Bilbo?

I think Bilbo is better as the main hobbit in The Hobbit than Frodo is in LotR. Martin Freeman potrays him well.

In terms of the characters as Tolkien wrote them, I like Frodo better than Bilbo -- he has more depth of character and is more fully fleshed out in the books. Of course much of that was cut from the films, and Elijah Wood's Frodo is very different from Tolkien's Frodo, and not only in age (E.W. did a good job I thought, granted he was given a different concept of the character to work with).

However, as characters in the films, I prefer Bilbo. I'm just sorry he's been made such a secondary character when Freeman is doing an outstanding job IMO.

Books, or films? Frodo is a much more complex character in the books.
