Hopeful predictions for episode 8?

I want to see an older seasoned Maul show up in the movie as a neutral character or as a villain. I realise that it is a total long shot but i think it would be cool and would blow everybody's minds. After seeing what he was up to in rebels it seems plausible to me that he could still be alive. Imagine if maul felt the "awakening" in the force as snoke did? And during the events of episode 7 he was secluded in the outskirts waiting to come out of the shadows. I think it would be cool and it would resonate well with all sw fans, both casual and core. Maul is easily the most memorable part of the prequels and could be a very powerful threat or a temporary ally who wants to destroy snoke.
With regards to snoke i hope he is plageuis, simply because it would tie everything together so well. For one it makes the prequels matter that much more which might influence people who shun the prequels reincorporate it back into their sw movie marathons.
Vaders redemption(the prophecy) was about bringing balance to the force. Maybe this means he was destined to level the playing field for snoke(plageuis) and kylo vs luke and rey. The jedi interpreted balance as destroying the sith and even yoda thought the prophecy might have been misread. Snoke revealing that he is plageuis would be a great challenge for luke to face and if there would be a duel he is the only force user that could possibly challenge him. There is no way kylo could take on luke if he is anything like grandmaster luke from legends.
If he is a new character i think that would be great too because it expands the universe and brings a new philosophy to the force. It wouldnt black and white anymore maybe the knights of ren use both sides of the force somehow.
How cool would it be if luke lifts anch-to with the force and underneath the island is a temple guarding a holocron of some kind. They promised us something we have never seen before, perhaps luke becomes so powerful he lifts the mountain like how yoda lifted the x wing in empire. I hope something like this happens. Something epic and grand in scale that wows me when i am watching in the theater.
I hope rey is the incarnation of the chosen one or was once a padawan of lukes who had her memory wiped. Maybe the chosen one is born everytime the force is out of balance. Could rey be the sith'ari and that is why luke wiped her memory?

So there are my hopeful predictions
1.bring on the maul
2.snoke is plageuis if not i hope he is a new character
3.luke does something epic and grand
4.i hope rey is either the chosen one reborn/lukes former padawan/or is believed to be the sith'ari by luke or maybe snoke?

Abrams has made a point of excluding ANY references to the prequels, going so far as to remove Anakin's pod racing flag from Maz's Cantina. I don't know what his replacements will be like, but likelihood of characters from prequels is very low.

I think you'll just have to be happy that Maul was kept alive (and that's canon) beyond Phantom Menace.

I know what you mean, i think they might chenge that as we go forward in the saga. I am sure we will get an anthology film that brings us back before tpm.

I wish luke would be visited by qui gon jinn, the same way he did yoda in clone wars. Maybe to lead him to someone or something important to the plot. Maybe a holocron or a sith artifact of some kind.
I know ive been spoiled with maul, but you have to admit, it would be sweet.

I never really liked the idea of Maul surviving TPM if I'm honest. As far as I'm concerned, he didn't.

I quite like the idea of Snoke being Plagueis but I can't see them taking that route. The Snoke = Mace Windu theory is kinda cool, I'd be interested to see if they could pull that off. But I think Snoke will just be some dark side user wanting to take over where Sidious left off.

I'm not really sure where Episode 8 can go to be honest. Kylo Ren, General Hux and Captain Phasma were all weak villains. I dread to think what the other Knights of Ren are like is Kylo is their best. It's going to be hard for the writers to come up with an interesting threat out of them.

Rei I assume must be Luke's daughter. A non-Skywalker hero would feel un-Star Wars and I don't think Han, Leia and Kylo's reactions would fit her being Leia's daughter. I really like Rei but she's so capable at the end of Episode 7 that I can't see too much of a hero's journey for her.

I'm probably most interested in what they're going to do with Finn and Poe.

One thing I didn't like in Episode 7 was how so much of it seemed like someone had hit a massive reset button:
- Han and Chewie are back to being smugglers
- Leia is leading a resistance against a group with more fire power
- The Jedi are all but extinct
I would like to see Episode 8 actually show us how things have changed in the galaxy since Palpatine's death. Otherwsie it feels like Luke and Anakin achieved naff all. I feel the EU books handled this much better.

You should check out rebels and clone wars and if you are in for a good read check out son of dathomir you might change youer mond on maul.
I am sure everyone is way off with all the snoke theories and whatever th 91st have planned is going to be awesome. As far as kylo ren is concerned i bet he is going ro come back like a beast and ××ck ××it up. He and rey are obviously going to have a second showdown, i bet he cuts her hand or arm off and steals anakins lightsaber, that would be crazy. Who knows what they qill do with finn and poe. Have you ever wondered if finn is the one ren and snoke felt the awakening in the force? Imagine if finn is force sensitive? That would be neat.

Personally I hope they don't take that route. It seems a bit boring to me if Ren beats him in Ep 7, he beats her in Ep 8 and then presumably she beats or converts him in Ep 9. But hey they might pull it off.

Well he did manage to use a lightsaber - though he couldn't even beat a random strormtrooper with it. But yeah maybe he just needs a bit of training. Poe also manages to resist Kylo Ren's mind probe for a short while so maybe he's force sensitive too.

Agreed, that would be cool. I'd love to see them acknowledge more of the Star Wars mythos than just the OT. Disney seem a bit reluctant to include any of the more divisive stuff though.

In Legends, Luke was involved in major galaxy-wide event every other week. It seems he lived a much quieter existence in this new canon so I'm thinking he won't be quite so powerful. No idea about Snoke, we seem to know little of his power. I still think the writers are planning some sort of twist with him though can't work out what exactly.

I see what you mean but if kylo does not come back strong than he is kind of useless, if he opposes no threat than what kind of villain is he?
I think they will incorporate more of the mythos into the new films. I personally think luke is guarding either a sith/jedi holocron of some kind. Or maybe the tomb of an ancient sith lord. Everything in star wars matters or means something and luke is not on that island for no reason.

True. This is why I feel they messed up a bit in Episode 7 by having Rey already beat Kylo. And ok, he was badly wounded and he was holding back a little and Snoke is presumably going to train him between Eps 7 and 8. Still, I just can't buy him as any real threat anymore. Imagine if Luke had beaten Vader in ESB or Anakin beaten Dooku in AOTC. Would their rematches have seemed all that exciting?

Your probably right but i bet luke is a beast in episode 8.
I'd quite like to see Luke as more of a wise man like Obi-Wan and Yoda in the OT. Not that I'm adversed to seeing him kick a bit of ass too.

I haven't really thought about it but I like your ideas. I think a few people have said it looks like there is a grave there so maybe it's the resting place of Luke's wife/Rey's mother? But even then, why did Luke bury her there? I think you're right that it's definitely going to be more than some island.

It will also be interesting to see why the new Jedi Order fell. Kylo's fall doesn't seem to explain it all since Luke and maybe some of the other new Jedi should have been able to beat him. I think there's definitely more going on.

I agree with you kylo ren was awesome up until his defeat. Thank the heavens above that esb was as awesome and perfect as it was. And no it would not have been nearly as exciting.
Luke will most likely be a mixture of both, a wise mentor and deadly combatant. I want to see luke v.s snoke.
I hope they delve into that aswell. It would be intruiging if they show/explain the fall of the new order and the rise of the knights of ren.
There was a rumor online that snoke will give kylo vaders lightsaber in ep.8 what do you think of that?
