This is most excellent news. The man is making some big Science-Fiction films of late. His other films; Prisoners, Incendies, Enemy and Sicario also range from very good to excellent.

Nice.

I still need to read Dune though.

Not seen it yet but I have high expectations. I've enjoyed the Science-Fiction genre this last decade. 'Melancholia' and 'Hard to be a God' would be top favourites so far.

No. Just no.

Unless this is going to be a Lord of the Rings style trilogy it's just too damn hard to adapt in a 2 hour movie.

Legend has it the old version (the one with Sting) has a good 8 or so hours of footage and had to be cut drastically on the editing floor to make it as just "a really long movie".

And? There are multiple books in the Dune series, that doesn't mean they'll make Dune multiple parts. It might just mean they're covering more than just the first book. Where as I'm talking about the first book. It would need to be broken down into multiple parts.

I'm just relaying the information to you. I'm not personally involved in any way, so I don't know how they plan to split up the books.
