Jumping to Conclusions: The Future of "Grand Theft Auto"

Dat Saintsfan believes that "it's never happening" (September 2016):

And I'm inclined to agree. For the longest time, Rockstar Games was releasing a new video game every year, but it all stopped after Grand Theft Auto V and possibly around the time that Leslie Benzies (producer) went on a sabbatical that eventually turned into a resignation followed by a fraud lawsuit against the company, which is coinciding with a trademark lawsuit by the company against a television studio that was producing The Gamechangers, a biopic about the Houser bothers (Sam Houser [producer] and Dan Houser [writer]), starring Daniel Radcliffe.

Games:
Red Dead Redemption 2 (2017)
Grand Theft Auto V (2013)
Max Payne 3 (2012)
L.A. Noire (2011)
Red Dead Redemption (2010)
Grand Theft Auto IV: The Ballad of Gay Tony (2009)
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars (2009)
Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned (2009)
Midnight Club: Los Angeles (2008)
Grand Theft Auto IV (2008)
Manhunt 2 (2007)
Bully (2006)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories (2006)
Midnight Club 3: DUB Edition (2005)
Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (2005)
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas (2004)
Red Dead Revolver (2004)
Manhunt (2003)
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City (2002)
Grand Theft Auto III (2001)

I get the feeling that the company's flow is simply disrupted right now as it is simply falling back on revenue from sales of eight generation console versions of Grand Theft Auto V (which has all DLC at no charge) and its Grand Theft Auto Online Shark cards, until such time that demand or participation fizzles out. I'd imagine there are some investment-oriented activities going in the background too, like software engine development. I hear that they are also waiting to see what happens with Mafia III, and may release a new title in 2018. If will be just one title, then it should be Grand Theft Auto VI, since the title increments every five years anyway, but on the other hand, Red Dead Redemption is one of the few Rockstar titles that has no sequel.

Edit: Added Red Dead Revolver to the list, and later also the sequel to Red Dead Redemption.
