IMDb invests ZERO in moderation, blames toxic users

I agree, even though some users managed to do illegal things on the site. It's just bizarre that IMDb is sinking the one thing that gives them regular users - jesus, some of us have been here twenty years, you can't buy that loyalty -, at least they have a new snapchat guys! Right?!

I don't know much about the illegal activity that IMDb has to deal with, but I know some iPod spam links existed, or torrent links because there are dedicated "Report" buttons for those specific issues. Having any sort of half competent moderation team could have easily taken care of that, though. The "small" amount of message board users will be forced into the regular users category and only log-in once in a while.

Discussions about movies and shows is what kept this site popular in the first place. The best thing about media is being able to talk about it. IMDB could have adopted a user mod system if they didn't want to invest in paid moderation.

I can't help but to feel saddened that the internet is losing one of it's oldest institutions because Amazon wouldn't help this site adapt to be more effective.

The problem is that you cant discuss movies any more. Go to any board, write some well written thoughts, be they negative, positive or goddamn neutral and all youll get is abuse from fanboys or haters or trolls.

Wipe the slate I say.
