... play it straight throughout the entire movie/show, regardless if they're playing a main or minor character? Please, aside from listing examples, could you tell me your opinion on this style of comedy?

Ron Swanson of Parks and Recreation - my opinion is he's amazing.

I agree completely. He was by far my favorite character on that show. What a fantastic deadpan delivery!

Superstore is very different from Wrecked.
They are both spoofs, but one is a drama and the other a farce.
The dramatic straight faced comedy is my preference.
