In my view William Wyler was better. Wilder would have been rated much better had he done less comedies and done more of his initial serious works. I am sure I am in the minority on this one but so be it.

One of my favourites of his is Kiss me, Stupid. Critically reviled at the time and also by the League of Decency et al, it is very funny and mocks the then conventions of morality
