Why is it that movies that involve Chinese culture get crapped on by critics etc?

Movies like the Matt Damon Great Wall movie and John Carpenter's Big Trouble in Little China and basically any John Carpenter movie thats not named Halloween, why do they get crapped on by Hollywood powers that be and stubborn critics?

"Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" won 4 Oscars.
"House of Flying Daggers" - Critics Metascore: 89 (user 91).
"Long Day's Journey into Night" - ran at Cannes 2018, Metascore 88.
"Hero" has a Metascore of 85 and an Oscar Nomination.

Here's a list of the "Best Action Movies of all time", according to critics:

"The 36th Chamber of Shaolin" is not the only Chinese entry.

"The Great Wall" has a score of 4.9 on movie.douban.com, so maybe, it's more about the specific movie.

well i heard otherwise.

Great Wall got picked on because critics were pissin and moanin about Matt Damon whitewashing in the movie which he never did in the first place

The Great Wall was such a terrible movie and has nothing to do with Chinese Culture.

Big Trouble in Little China has nothing to do with Chinese Culture and I agree with you, I don't understand anyone who doesn't love that movie.
