RIP Robert Osborne

Just found out he has passed away. Considering there was a whole thread about TCM and our love for it on the General Boards, I figured some folks around here might care.

It'll be so weird not seeing him host that channel anymore, he gave me a good chunk of my film education. My thoughts are with his family, rest in peace!

I have a feeling there will be many threads about this, that man touched all us movie lovers!

Sorry to hear that. Thanks for passing along the news. He was a very welcoming presence, sharing knowledge without ever seeming pedantic. RIP.

You put it perfectly. Man, I'll miss those intros...

Damn! I really hoped we would get to see him host TCM again. I knew his health was not good but he was such a fixture to us movie lovers it seemed unthinkable he would never be back.

RIP Robert. You will truly be missed.

Very sad. RIP

He sort of introduced me to classic movies through my habitual watching of TCM as a teenager. I was sad when I heard. Nobody does those intros like him.

So sad to hear. He always brought a smile to my face whenever I turned TCM on.

Robert Osborne gave me some indelible memories, including when he screened the Robert Mitchum movie 'His Kind of Woman'. Before the movie he interviewed Mitchum and co star Jane Russell. This was 2002 or 3 so they were in their 70's I think. He was reminding them of a few things they had forgotten, and Mitchum mentioned that another co star Vincent Price was quite the cook, making fish meals for the cast. Rest in Peace people.
