Musicals?

I keep thinking about La La Land and how I liked it as a movie but it didn't strike me as a good musical. I never got "the chills".
What can I watch? I enjoyed West Side Story, Rent, Grease, The Lion King (obv.)

Les Mis?

I'm not much of a musical person, but I've enjoyed All That Jazz, Cabaret, Hair. Also Once, but that's not strictly a song and dance movie.

Maybe they're obvious picks, but as I said, not much of a musical person.

Some popular ones are the Singin' in the Rain, The Sound of Music, The Wizard of Oz, My Fair Lady, Sweeney Todd, Chicago, Mamma Mia, Enchanted, Mary Poppins, Into the Woods, Hairspray, The Phantom of the Opera, Dreamgirls, Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Oliver, An American in Paris, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, White Christmas, Jesus Christ Superstar, Funny Face, The King and I, A Star Is Born, Top Hat, Hedwig and the Angry Inch

They are all really different so you should read the plot summary or watch a trailer and see if it appeals to you before you watch.

I really enjoy The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964).

Really nice list people have going here! I like a lot of them and would recommend them as well. I'll just add one more...how about Victor/Victoria? I don't know if it counts as a strict musical, but there are songs and numbers in there and it's probably one of my favorite films. Great comedy, great performances, and a quality watch for when you want to watch something of substance, but nothing terribly heavy at the same time.

It's just one that popped into my head while reading this thread. I do enjoy musicals quite a lot and would include more, but I think others have gotten to a majority of the good ones!

How about Holiday Inn, Moulin Rouge, Unsinkable Molly Brown, Music Man, Oklahoma, and Grease.

Is Beaches a musical? What about Walk the Line? Maybe not because the musical numbers aren't a "song and dance" kind of thing? Just wondering what others think.

Thank you all!

Enchanted, Into the Woods, Funny Face, High Society are among my best.

Really didn't see any need for The Rocky Horror Picture Show; and, if we can include TV shows, no need for Cop Rock.
