Old black-and-white film, possibly 1940s, little boy crack shot with whip

Years ago I was watching a Dean Stockwell movie with host comments at the beginning and end, not from TCM but some other host. The host kept going on about how Dean was so proficient with a whip, he could pop a cigarette out of a person's mouth without hurting them. There was no whip in the movie we watched so we figured he meant some other Dean Stockwell movie. After a more than 30-year search, I have located the last of Dean's childhood movies which I hadn't seen, Down to the Sea in Ships. There was no whip in that film or any other of Dean's movies. I wonder what other child actor the host confused Dean with.

I think he had a talent with the whip that wasn't shown in any of his movies.

Oh, wow, brilliant, thanks! Dean was also a talented roller skater, which never appeared in any of his films.
