I remember watching this in 1985/1986. Could have been released earlier, but it felt like an 80's movie.

All I remember, was alien creatures transforming themselves into human beings by attacking them first. One scene was an alien attacking a policeman at his police car, and they fall to the ground, and next scene you see the alien being the policeman in his skin. That scene was at night time.

Been looking for it forever.

Maybe we should focus on another detail. Movies with a dome (that houses people) at night.
There were definitely police men in the film.

Maybe "The Borrower", but it is from 1991.

Another thing I remember:

There was a shot of a police car parked, a far shot, and you see the alien jump the policeman as he was getting out. They both fall to the ground, but you cannot see them, because of the shot of the camera. Next thing you see is the policeman again, but it's actually the alien as him (wearing his skin and uniform). The aliens skin humans to look like them.
