What's the name of this film?

A few years ago I saw an amusing movie that featured a group of worldly-wise kids. One scene showed them in an earnest discussion of the mating habits of birds. In the same movie was a young girl whose hobby was to educate boys about sex. The movie was hilarious, but had a serious side also. Recently I wanted to recommend that movie to a friend. For the life of me, I cannot remember the movie's name. Can you help me?

Sorry, I don't know the release date. BTW, the soundtrack was in the English language, but I am not certain that the film was American. Could have been British.

Gonna take a wild stab at this and guess:

Hope And Glory (1987). It's a semi-autobiographical film about Director John Boorman's experiences as a young child growing up in England during WWII.

Kind of sounds like Just Looking (1999), but I haven't watched it in a while, so I could be wrong.
