SOLVED: 1980s sci-fi / aliens movie title

Hi folks,
I miss the title of a science fiction / horror movie from the 1980s (made in the USA) which had the following plot: A schoolboy gets wind of the fact that his town has been infiltrated by aliens under the guise of humans - but, of course nobody believes him at first. Even one of his own schoolteachers has already been turned into an alien...
Later on he manages to convince one teacher that he told the truth and it comes to a dramatic "showdown" in the school building.
Unfortionately I don't remember much more of the movie. I would really like to know which movie that was :-)
I checked several movies from my collection (I think I browsed most of those which have anything to do with aliens) but of no avail.
It wasn't one of the classics like, e.g., E.T., Flight of the Navigator, etc. - I only remember that I found the acting of the boy actor involved (I think he had dark hair, and he was approx. 10 or 11 years old?) pretty good... but WHO is he? :-)
Suggestions welcome!!
Kind regards

Hello MichiganJFrogg,
thanks a lot for your quick reply - but no, this is not the one (horrorfan000 solved the mystery for me) ...BUT still I appreciate your post very much, because when I looked up The Faculty on imdb I noticed Haley Joel Osment in the listing. NOW I know which movie I might watch this week-end :-)
Haven't watched "A.I." for way too long a time! I think I didn't like the end the movie had, as I found a bit too far-fetched... but overall, HJO's performance was superb... I think I'll start watching it this evening, EXACTLY a quarter past 8 p.m. - for many years it was customary in my country that after a newsreel (8 to 8.15 p.m.) they used to broadcast one long movie ; about 10 p.m. there were sports news, another long movie, and then there was a forgotten thing called closedown; nowadays they broadcast 24 h per day but most of the program has become so crappy - on the state-subventioned channels, at least - that it's just too boring to waste time with! Better read an interesting book - or insert a DVD :-)
To be honest - although I knew that HJO was in the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy and these are considered as classics now, I never was much interested in these movies... but there are lots of other "Fantasy/Mystery" style movies where there are other young actors involved - I like the "Never Ending Story" (1984) very much, for instance! Noah Hathaway AND Barret Oliver, together in ONE movie - just unforgettable :-D
Have a nice week-end!

Hello again :-)
I'm living in Germany...
So this is/was called "signing off"? hmmm, it seems I was to hasty in choosing the right term via Google search :-)
Reconsidering the term, I think "closing out" seems rather to indicate a final end of broadcasts (?), i.e. one channel "goes out of business" for good. Not sure about that...
When I was a kid - in the 1970s, early 1980s - the regular program used to end around 1 or 2 a.m.; then there was only some kind of "test picture" until late in the noon; only in the mid-1980s they started a format they called "Breakfast TV", from 6 or 7 a.m. onwards...
Some 10 or 15 years ago they started some new pattern of how the movies and other broadcast are presented: Quite often, one movie is shown at 8.15 p.m., for example; and then, later the same night, the movie is shown again, e.g. at 11.45 p.m. - is it the same in the U.S.?
Kind regards

Invader from mars remake (1986)?.

Hello horrorfan000,
thank you very much - this is the one I remember!
I've seen the movie here on TV some years ago but I forgot to keep a TV magazine clipping (as a reminder to buy it for my collection); so I never searched for the dvd... now I did, and luckily it's available.
I think in addition to the r2-dvd ("Invasion vom Mars", it's a double feature with the original from the 1950s) I shall buy the r1-dvd, too... I like the Hunter Carson portrait cover which the European dvd hasn't.
I remembered from the TV broadcast that the female lead actress looked somewhat familiar; I knew I had seen her in another movie, but I couldn't figure out which that was... and now I found that she was "Mrs. Rolfe" in Burnt Offerings which has been a favourite in my collection for many years now (of course you know who played "David Rolfe"...:-)
Have a fine week-end!
Kind regards

I see from the header that you've solved it. Before I scroll down I'm going to posit my guess-- this sounds like a film I saw in the '80s, which was a remake of a film from the '50s, called Invaders from Mars.

Hello FilmBuff,
you got it! Thank you :-)
Maybe you could also help me with another strange movie (just browse my other posts if you like to) ?
This other one - which has some female tourists abducted into the jungle to a hidden place - leaves me absolutely clueless.
I once HAD it on dvd but can't find it anymore; and when I searched for it in my collection I first thought it was part of the 13-disc-set "Pure Terror" (some time ago published by an Australian company) BUT the "jungle-related" movie which made me think so was quite another one: Terror In The Jungle (1966). Hadn't anything to do with the plot I related in my other post. And I'm sure I have NOT seen the unknown movie as part of a trailer sequence annexed to another dvd; I remember that it was the complete version. Really strange! My only explanation is that it might have been a double feature with another B-movie and that the dvd didn't play anymore, at some point, i.e. I might have discarded it... (BUT usually I KEEP even those movies which don't play anymore; either for the sake of their good cover art, or just as a "memo" to get another copy...)
There was a dvd with similar movies (or just ONE?) which had one big disadvantage: After inserting it, I had ALWAYS to "endure" an endless trailer show containing some 10-15 movie clips most of which were just too crappy to be good (zombie movies, mutated animals, aliens, (s)exploitation of all kind, vampires, killers, whatever - heaps of mostly crappy movies, with some few classics... I remember there was a trailer for "The Hills Have Eyes"; I didn't recognise many of the others. There was a trailer for a splatter movie named "Torso", etc.; "Cannibal H*l*caust" was also in it...
Would be lucky if that sounds familiar to you (in other words maybe you have this dvd, with all these trailers; if so, let me know the title, so I could see whether I can get another copy...)
Kind regards
