In the flash-backs, young actor Jupe avoided Death By Rampaging Animal because he never made eye contact with the Chimpanzee (Jupe kept staring at the shoe).
Later, large pictures of eyes were attached to the vehicle to lure the alien.
Since seeing the movie, when I am at a park or beach where bad animal owners have set their friendly, pouncy dogs off-leash in the no-pets-allowed areas, I look away from the dog and successfully avoid contact with overly friendly sharp claws on the fragile skin of my skinny shins.
