I believe what Friday meant is that being bludgeoned by the claw hammer made the victim's looks(a part of personality) disfigured.
By this comment, Koe Friday points out how callused Clayton Filmore's attittude is. Filmore's loose comment is: "Sorry, but it's not as if they would have lived much longer anyway. No human has the authority to decide that some people have lived long enough.
Sergeant Friday's reasoning is that true justice for Clayton Filmore's crime wasn't achieved in that courtroom. To say it's 125 for each life." This is sarcasm because Koe Friday valued life way more than tbat.
In the hands of a disturbed adolescent,the hand grenade changed any odds Gerald Paulson had against him by "bigger guys." The grenade would be more than a match against them.
