Dam I came here hoping to find an answer to the exact same question.
They threw that revelation in at the last minute
I have no issues with the skin colour but why couldn't they have kept the bright red hair, that's the most defining feature of Aerial if you ask me (apart from being a Mermaid!)
Apparently she's pretty good in it. . 'shrugs'
