it actually loooks like it is him drawing the portrait that shown later (Jakes).
i must have missed that scene somehow on my first viewing.
it still feels heavily implied that he not only needs to have drawn the person but needs contact with whatever object it is while this transference is taking place.
why else does it show his seizure-esque state while holding the paper?
when i say its implied, there are hints to how the paintings/sculptures are basically effigys, after all why have the voodoo doll scene otherwise?
it just feels like a pretty big oversight to me.
