The role was originally offered to John Travolta. And Travolta admitted publicly he regretted turning the role down. I think Travolta would have been better fit for this movie then Hairspray. I think he's the weak link in Hairspray. I didn't have a problem with Richard's Gere performance. But when I first watched it didn't really scream Oscar nomination for me. The US movie The Concorde... Airport '79 had delays coming to Australia and New Zealand. And by the time the film was getting released to Australia and New Zealand it was 1980 not 1979 as it was released in the US. That movie title was changed to Airport '80 for Australian and New Zealand audiences. But by the time the movie was released in Australia and New Zealand the movie Airplane was getting the release also. Because the distributers were concerned Australia and New Zealand audiences would confuse the two films Airplaneā€™s title was changed to Flying High. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/15-films-completely-different-titles-other-countries-movies-translation-a7929166.html Because Anna Chlumsky has said she would have no interest in doing it. She also said she gets sick of being asked about something that she did when she was 10. Frankly, who can blame her. Its hard to branch out and do other roles if your just cementing yourself in something that you get associated with as the same as the cast of The Brady Bunch. As mentioned he was betrayed by Krang and frozen. I can see why Shredder was cancelled out of the final fight scene. Another Shredder showdown with the Turtles could be seen as just a rehash of the first movie and not offering anything different. I loved the first original movie as a kid. But if I was casting from the cartoon of April, I probably wouldn't have casted Judith Hoag. She was an interesting choice. But she was nothing that really resembled the cartoon April. Apparently, they had a yellow suit for her. But it looked crap so they pretty much ditched it. And did the yellow raincoat as a homage to it. I completely missed it as a kid and probably would have missed it as an adult too. It was way too subtle. However, the benefit of casting Hoag avoided the movie becoming too 'camp' and bringing their/and her own interpretation to it. Rather then some lame imitation. She's only in Armageddon very briefly. I wouldn't even call it a supporting role but a very minor role at best. She has done other projects with Connie and Carla. The problem for her is Connnie and Carla bombed so badly there probably isn't alot of faith in her from the studios to let her doing anything different. It happens Paul Hogan's Crocodile Dundee's 1 and 2 movies made huge profits at the box office. But Hogan's follow up Almost an Angel brought Hogan back to the realty with the a sudden thunk. When CBS were looking a replacement for David Letterman. I remember reading Norm MacDonald was interested hosting the gig. MacDonald admitted he wasn't a great comic actor, and felt hosting a late night show medium were more closer to his comic strengths. Its for this reason why Macdonald's film career never really took off. Billy Madison his role you could phone it through, and Dirty Work don't even get me started on that awful film. Norm MacDonald RIP. I think Jon Stewart had a desire to be an actor around this period. He probably would be still acting today if Death to Smoochy hadn't bombed. After that he seemed to be more just primarily focused on comedy and television. I thought Ben Affleck was fine. Actually his career was still a little bit in the doldrums at this point after Gigli and was looking for his comeback film. This wouldn't be the film to do it. It would happen a couple of years later with Argo. Edward Norton would have been better to choose this film though. He was supposed to play Affleck's role, but was committed to making the mediocre Leaves of Grass meant he had to pull out. Apparently Norton agreed to be in the film but then production was delayed which meant he couldn't do it. View all replies >
