If you watch one of the episodes in season 7 it goes back to just before the rocket launch and who occupied the bunker and how they left. I think the episode name was anaconda.
Yeah they painted them blue for 2 seconds and then they killed them. Don't think they had much chance to migrate very far if that is the case...
More like they could see there is no way people will be watching this after the first/second season. Best to admit failure early and move on...
