I would watch Guy and Thomas in old Hollywood lol.
But I don't think she loved him, nor thought she ever would. She just needed a man to protect and care for her because she was no good on her own.
In other words, serious relationship yes, romantic no. Not on her part anyway.
I know this is a very old thread, but I didn't see this mentioned anywhere else on the board and I wanted to put it out there.
I don't think Blanche had a "serious romantic interest in Mitch." My sense was that she was using Mitch's attraction to her to obtain security.
What I got out of it is that she was getting revenge on Grindle specifically.
Remember she told Stan that Grindle could be unpredictable, and that pissing off the wrong guy has consequences, implying that trying to scam him would be dangerous.
When she showed her scar, I didn't immediately connect it, but when Grindle said he "hurt" a lot of girls, I figured she must have been one of them.
She read enough of Stan's character to know he could be violent under the right circumstances, and manipulated him into being the tool of her revenge on Grindle. Stole all the money too.
I believe it was "Are You Lonesome Tonight." I was wowed by it as well, makes me want to get the soundtrack.
I always thought it was hilarious that on his first visit Victor gets about 4 drinks in 5 minutes and doesn't touch a single one of them.
When Louis spills the Vichy water? Intentionally.
