I suppose you could take value from what it meant to folks at the specific time in history. Maybe these themes were what resonated with the general public, depends specifically what you're looking for.
This is more apparent in "Batman + Robin", but trying to make a hybrid of kitsch and "cool" is basically a paradoxical style choice. I'm not one to say it's not possible, but these films fail to pull it off in my opinion.
