What is even this thread? Galaxy Quest is a clear send-up of Star Trek, of course future Trek will have similarities. Star Trek copied "doomed red shirt trope"? Haha Not really, it still had cocoa powder and came out milk chocolate-looking and tasting, just different :) The chocolate pudding I make uses both cocoa powder and chocolate. I use whatever is on hand though and once made it with white chocolate chips - actually prefer it this way as it turns something that's otherwise quite rich into something a bit lighter and smoother tasting. You should definitely experiment with different chocolates if you feel like it because, like with what your niece used, you may be surprised with the results. > I was hammered for it with 2 upvotes to 16 Downvotes > I feel like we've become too hypersensitive lol What doesn't matter is the arbitrary measuring of intelligence, in a way. One person can be street smart, another smart with mechanical things, and another book smart, but the only one really recognised as intelligent is the book smart person. Anyone who pays attention, learns and thinks in whatever their sphere is can be intelligent in their own way and contribute. What we know does matter, as our own individual and different experiences and gleaned knowledge can complete the whole. I was never an Anna Kendrick fan. Watched Table 19 some time ago, though, with low expectations (for the type of movie it seemed to be). Was pleasantly surprised by how good this film is and loved Anna Kendrick in this, along with the rest of the cast. A rare film in that it comes off as a silly chick flick but is actually...quality and sincere. Watching that scene where Steve Martin has that initial split personality comedic breakdown is so well-acted. Genuine classic that I've watched countless times and have never tired of. Dot matrix printers best printers I always assumed that public places, including venues such as clubs, were exempt from that invitation rule. Thinking back to ye olde days, I imagine a vampire wouldn't require an invitation to the town square (public) or local tavern but would for pretty much anywhere else. I just watched this abomination tonight. I can see how she was blinded, by the firework crap that went to her eyes. But I have no idea how she became paralysed. It just happened and she seemed pretty happy about it. This movie is the worst movie I have ever seen in my life. What the hell did I just subject myself to. > perhaps the connection to the operator wouldn't work with too great a distance, necessitating rentals at the destination with actual travel limited to the human operator. If that's the case When Tom mentions a holiday to Hawaii, his wife talks of how much fun her friend had with the rental surrogate for hers and that they could do the same. It's possible flying wasn't an option for surrogates; perhaps the connection to the operator wouldn't work with too great a distance, necessitating rentals at the destination with actual travel limited to the human operator. If that's the case, the pilots would be human so the planes wouldn't have crashed (but would've had difficulty landing until the tower staff and ground crew arrived at the airports to replace their defunct surrogates). Now listen here Maybe He's my favourite actor to watch in Stargate SG-1, X-Files and Stargate Atlantis. He's just too freaking cool, among other things. He's my unfailing indicator of what not to watch I'm MEWSHusband's friend IRL and introduced him to this site recently, at which point we both created accounts (I'm more of a lurker). What you just said is completely false in every way. FYI he doesn't care if people think he's a jerk and doesn't create new accounts anywhere because of it. inb4 you claim I'm one of his socks. Congrats at assigning a party to me, you should feel real good Will didn't break it off with Gwen because his friends were needy but because he genuinely cared about them and Gwen's badgering at the party made him evaluate what was actually going on and what was important. That is to say, his friends played no active role in him turning on Gwen. Layla didn't flirt or make her true feelings known to Will, I agree, but she also didn't come across as jealous one bit. From the start of the film, she's shown to have seen Will's attraction to Gwen but she never talks badly of her. When Will messes up and apologises, she can't forgive him quickly enough, which is something you don't see enough of. When you love someone, you want to think the best of them and do anything you can to ease the tension. I don't think Layla assumed Will was into her, instead I got the feeling that she was resigned to being friendzoned to an extent, with the full realisation of this made manifest after he stood her up at the Chinese restaurant. I don't think Gwen could have had a good ending at school with Will because her whole upbringing would have centred around the Strongholds and how they defeated her, considering she was raised by that goblin thing that hung around her. That's years of having mulled over the fact that your powers were rejected/uncool and a burning desire to get back at the popular group, which, ironically, was Gwen's group in Will's time, with Will being part of the nerdly group. All that being said, I'm not a Layla fan and she sucks balls. "I can't use my powers for violence because that's wrong until I get a lil slap in the face, then it's actually real and I can care about it". Layla has one of the strongest powers of her generation and, luckily, she won't have to use it much because she ended up with Will, who is practically indestructible, has super strength and can fly. She can rest on her moral superiority while her boyfriend/husband does all the work. She is supportive of Will throughout the film, though. TDS rent free From what I understand, the "virus" spreads to whatever lifeform it can find, prioritising finding the most intelligent lifeform or in a pinch, whatever lifeform will prolong its survival e.g. the wolf at the start, to find new hosts. Once the virus spreads to an intelligent lifeform, it seems to gain its level of intelligence e.g. the doctor sabotaging and salvaging equipment to build a new spacecraft. It also seems to retain the intelligence it's assumed, similar to the Borg (ref the doctor again, building a spacecraft he wouldn't have had the knowledge to build), which then makes it irrelevant whether the same species built the spacecraft. Seems to be more of a scavenger species, retaining what it's learnt, similar to "School Reunion" in Doctor Who.
