That's a very good point, ADBruno, and one that I hadn't realized before. Most of us are lucky to have people who love us around on a daily basis, so thinking about Maleficent's curse with that in mind makes it seem much less treacherous. It also made me think of a (possible) quick and easy solution to the whole problem: King Stefan could have pricked baby Aurora's finger on the spindle right there at the celebration (as unpleasant as that sounds) and then kissed her once she had fallen asleep, thereby eliminating the need to send her off to live in isolation for 16 years with 3 incompetent fairies. No long years of worrying. No missing out on raising and getting to know your only child (not to mention royal heir). Nothing to be concerned about at all, really!
