I kinda assumed the blood smell would attract them. But in reality that's probably not realistic. When the second guy was cutting his hands on the wire, the wolves come, and he glances at his bloody hands, and sighs. So again, I do get impression they were trying to imply the smell of blood attracts wolves, but I don't think they can smell so far away. Check the website, which will answer several of your questions and tell you much more. They'd probably not say they were wearing 'costumes' as much as bringing out their inner fairy/nature spirit. It's been over a decade since I went, seemed to be maybe 40 people then? I expect it's grown, quite a few people giving talks there, which isn't why I go. Some are there for fun, some to learn. I absolutely felt something akin to 'nature spirits' when I was there. Just felt free and really connected to nature. Yes, people camp, but again, check the website. I'm guessing if your daughters loved that movie, they'd love this gathering. But while there are kids there, it's not a kids festival. It's for all ages. You live on a secluded island for that amount of time, building a raft that takes much work and labor, and when some being ruins it, over and over and over again, you don't think you'd be super upset? The guy wanted to leave the island, he was willing to risk his life to get back to the world he knew. The turtle kept him from doing that - he didn't know why. I still don't know why. He wasn't the type to enjoy hurting things, he was upset that the turtle ruined his rafts over and over and over again, keeping him from leaving. Why don't you at least mention that? He put a HUGE amount of work into building those rafts, over and over and over again. And all he knew was that the turtle kept ruining his rafts/work, and keeping him stranded on the island. He wanted to go 'home' back to his life. If it'd been you, you'd have been fine with the turtle doing that to you? I can see relatives and friends of jumpers not wanting to be interviewed. Without a doubt it was upsetting to them, then to have strangers put a camera on you and bring up all that pain and guilt? My family would refuse to be filmed/interviewed. I'm guessing a lot of jumpers came from families where people weren't all that open with their feelings. I can imagine someone's movements being like that of a gorilla, if they were torn inside about what they were about to do. I'm going to .. . Nope, not gonna ... Wait, yes I am ... back and forth. Pure honesty comes from kids, til we make them bottle it up. And what happens to people who bottle too much for too long .... And if they threatened over and over, and you made suggestion after suggestion? You saying there would never be a point where you'd say 'enough'? What if it goes on for years and years? What if you cancel lots of things you want/need to be there for the person who for years talks of suicide? The impression I got was that the threat of suicide had been uttered over and over and over - eventually I would say enough. But I guess you have the patience of a saint. At least one's been spotted in Michigan. And his WACO type threat! If he truly thought he could react that way if his lions were taken, then why couldn't he marshall up that type of energy/activity to do something good/helpful? Gotta disagree with you about him deserving to go to jail for the electrocution. Yeah, his property appeared very uncared for, and he and his son and wife could have taken much better care of things, but most people would not have known of the grounding/electrical problem. Stuff like that happens to many people, and I'm sure other animals have died similarly. Doesn't excuse it, but I think it's too much to expect he should have known. View all replies >
