Man I just do not get why this movie confuses sooo many people. They all seem to miss one bit of dialogue or not pay attention and then complain how the movie doesn't make sense to them.
Here let me explain what you obviously missed when you got up to use the bathroom. The main character literally spells it out in the film. The past is the past and according to this films rules of time travel CAN NOT be changed. The scientists only goal in going back to the past is to get the pure germ to save the present which is the future.
Once Cole had finally identified who the real villain was who had the pure germ BEFORE it mutates they sent a scientist back to secure the germ, that being the female scientist.
Cole LITERALLY spells this out when he's interrogated at the mental hospital. If you had only payed attention a little more you wouldn't be asking such stupid questions.
40. Missing your child being amazed by a 3rd rate magician to watch CNN will scar them for life.
41. Assaulting your subordinate by punching them in the face will be immediately forgiven if you recommend them for promotion in the future.
42. The best time to give rousing speeches is in the pouring rain while dramatically yelling even though the rain would immediately drown out any noise...
43. It is totally fine to ignore messages pertaining to Nuclear arms sent by the president if your wifi drops out...
44. If you have to admit you are wrong about something, pick something innocuous such as horse ancestry instead of the real reason you were in session for.
I was thinking about this and Honestly, this film doesn't need a modern-day remake. Everything brought up in this film easily translates to issues we are still dealing with today. Usually remakes unless, being strictly cash grabs have the goal of either translating ideas into the modern day to give them new context or coming at those ideas from a completely new perspective.
The thing is with this film the remake could only rehash the same issues. They really couldn't change the context without completely changing the film so a remake could ONLY be redundant for this film.
Nope. If you remember when Dr No is discussing his plans with Bond he states that the Island and mission here are TEMPORARY. Once the mission had been completed which was to mess up the next rocket test, Dr No would move on to another mission and location. So, it didn't matter to him if he offed more MI6 agents because the operation was temporary to him.

Actually, the shooting script that the actors all signed on for was an ALOT closer to the games and billed as a Fantasy film closer in tone to "the princess bride". As soon as the ''directors'' were hired they started changing the script daily leading to what we have now...
Personally a fan of "the omega man" myself, but I believe he is referencing the show "Last man on earth". The main character is nicknamed "Tandy". Good show although it does get a little stupid towards the end of the series. Kinda gave me a chuckle that you confused the work of the great Vincent price for Will Forte...
