Will try not to spoil too much here but that was a great flick. Starts off with some interviews with the designers then Go Nogai himself kicks it off. It immediately begins with some action scenes then a slight decline as the plot was a bit all over the place but the action immediately picked back up with some pretty epic battles. Lots of fan service, seemed like every single kikaiju from Dr. Hell was in the film! I wish I had watched the most recent series to familiarize myself with the current state of the characters but their story lines were not too difficult to follow. There was one "wth" moment paying tribute to their style of comedy relief, it was amusing nonetheless. Action scenes were intense and overall the look of the new Mazinger is simply amazing, true to the original design and not overdone. Keep an eye out for the Metal Build figure they released, it is stunning. The music was also up to par with the original themes. Overall it gave me chills to finally get the chance to see Mazinger is such a large scope and was not disappointed. I hope this revival brings a new series we can all enjoy here in the states.
Not a lot of folks were in the theater which made it real intimate. I got a handful of the movie posters too! If you can't catch this in the theaters, the bluray should be out soon so keep an eye out for it. I will definitely be picking this one up.
