I found it both horrible and enjoyable. Sure, but it’s a bit on the nose. Could have been a bit more clever about it. I watched it and enjoyed it. It’s not perfect, but at least it’s not the same movie we’ve all seen 100 times already. Really? The film was pretty specific, it just didn’t spoon feed you. It left a lot of questions unexplained, as any good dip in this genre should, but overall the plot was pretty tidy. Probably because they were afraid they would just send another one and start over. I imagine the has to have some small hope that the aliens would make good on their promise that was on the box that “ raise the child and be released”. Of course , release meant death. What a novel opinion. You sure are an individualist. Holding a faith that would appear to denounce malfeasance has often failed to prevent plenty of adherents from engaging in that which would seem to put them in conflict with their beliefs. Darlene has frequently made comments that reveal her identity as a crazy fundy. I think you’re right that the Byrds will end up trying to take the reigns from the cartel, or perhaps forging an alliance with Navarro’s opposition, but I suspect that it will ultimately follow a “breaking bad” chain of events that ends with their ruin. It’s an interpretive question- one posed to gauge the feelings of others regarding a moral dilemma. Sounds like you were triggered by a tv show. Must suck to not be able to enjoy anything that doesn’t have your exact beliefs reflected back at you. Probably because you are used to being spoonfed a particular ideal when it comes to women in roles and significantly older leading male actors being paired with much younger actresses. Their pairing hardly defies credulity. There are much more handsome men than Bateman running around with much uglier women than Linney here in the real world - especially a couple of a similar age who married when they were younger. All of the characters are morally abhorrent, but Darlene strikes me as a particularly nasty piece of work. Maybe it’s because of her crazy Religious fundamentalism ( always an ugly quality) or just because I more strongly identify with the oppositions social class and motivations. Either way, they all deserve the ruin that the series likely has in store for every party. Your mom does. Right. I’m sure the studios are only looking out for their best interests when they pay them in scraps. What really happened is he got ugly. All the drugs and problems could be overlooked by Hollywood, but nobody wants to see an ugly adult that was formerly a cute and famous kid. I think the movie is brilliant- until it’s third act , which has not aged gracefully Well, after they left the police station, they went to big bear. While they’re on their way there , you can hear a newscast mentioning that the largest law enforcement mobilization in the state’s history is taking place in order to search LA. Perhaps the resources in that task taxes nearby agencies, sending all the cops that would have been around during the 3rd act to to LA, where the terminator or Reese was presumed to still be. Answering machines had been around since the Chicago world’s fair. Man, with all the effort he exerts to try to control observable reality, and the way in which people regurgitate his obvious lies....... You were on the mark. It’s a movie, not a doc. Its mission isn’t to archive the etymology of 1940s speech, but to tell a compelling story. The line does not compromise the credulity or the verisimilitude of the premise in the least. If that line rubbed you the wrong way, then I’m going to sincerely suggest you might be too deep in the trenches, friend. It’s an angry place down there in both sides. Probably because it made him feel powerful. They were totally at his Mercy, and he could either mistreat them as he often did, or treat them. Both modes of treatment are a function of his need to dominate them completely, likely to compensate for lacking that control in other areas of his life.
